The Doctor's Secret (1929 Film)
''The Doctor's Secret'' is a 1929 American drama film directed by William C. deMille and written by William C. deMille. The film stars Ruth Chatterton, H. B. Warner, John Loder, Robert Edeson, Wilfred Noy and Ethel Wales. It is based on the 1913 play ''Half an Hour'' by J. M. Barrie. The film was released on January 26, 1929, by Paramount Pictures. As part of the policy of multiple-language versions during the early sound era, a separate Swedish version was produced at the Joinville Studios in Paris and released the following year. Synopsis Young Englishwoman Lillian Garson is unhappy with her marriage and decides to elope with another man. However he is killed in an car accident and she returns home to her husband and tries to carry on as if nothing had happened. Joinville Studios
The Joinville Studios were a film studio in Paris which operated between 1910 and 1987. They were one of the leading French studios, with major companies such as Pathé and Gaumont making films there. A second studio was added to the original in 1923. This was located less than a kilometre away, and together the two served as a major filmmaking hub. After the Second World War the studio was merged into the Franstudio network in 1947 along with other major Paris studios including the Saint-Maurice Studios and Francoeur Studios. In the early 1930s, the American company Paramount Pictures took over the studios and made French-language versions of their hit films.
