The Dismissal (miniseries)
''The Dismissal'' is an Australian television miniseries, first screened in 1983, that dramatised the events of the 1975 Australian constitutional crisis. It was partly written and directed by the noted film makers George Miller and Phillip Noyce as well as ''Mad Max'' screenwriter Terry Hayes, with cinematography by Dean Semler. The miniseries comprised six one-hour episodes. It was originally broadcast by Network Ten, beginning on 6 March 1983 (the day after the 1983 federal election), and was also broadcast in the United Kingdom. It was voted the 19th-best Australian television show on the '' 50 Years 50 Shows'' list. In the 1970s there were several attempts to make a film based on the same story called ''King Hit'' written by Erwin Rado and Bruce Grant. Kennedy Miller Mitchell (known before 2009 as Kennedy Miller) is an Australian film, television and video game production house in Potts Point, Sydney, that has been producing television and film since 1978. Gough Whitlam
Edward Gough Whitlam (11 July 191621 October 2014) was the 21st prime minister of Australia, serving from 1972 to 1975. The longest-serving federal leader of the Australian Labor Party (ALP) from 1967 to 1977, he was notable for being the head of a reformist and socially progressive administration that extraordinarily ended with his removal as prime minister after controversially being dismissed by the governor-general of Australia, Sir John Kerr, at the climax of the 1975 Australian constitutional crisis. Whitlam is the only Australian prime minister to have been removed from office. George Ogilvie
George Buchan Ogilvie (5 March 1931 – 5 April 2020) was a prolific Australian theatre director and actor, who also worked as a director and actor within film and television. Life and career George Ogilvie began as an actor at the Canberra Repertory Theatre, and eventually moved to the United Kingdom where he trained, taught and acted. In 1965, he returned to Australia to take up the position of associate director with the Melbourne Theatre Company, where he stayed for six years. He then worked as artistic director at the South Australian Theatre Company for four years, followed by 12 years as part of the subsidised theatre network. Margaret Whitlam
Margaret Elaine Whitlam, AO (née Dovey; 19 November 1919 – 17 March 2012) was an Australian social campaigner, author, and athlete. She was the wife of Gough Whitlam, the 21st Prime Minister of Australia from 1972 to 1975, and a representative of Australia in swimming at the 1938 British Empire Games in Sydney. Ruth Winifred Cracknell AM (6 July 1925 – 13 May 2002) was an Australian character and comic actress, comedienne and author, her career encompassing all genres including radio, theatre, television and film. Reginald Francis Xavier "Rex" Connor (26 January 190722 August 1977) was an Australian politician who served as a member of the House of Representatives from 1963 to his death, representing the Labor Party. He was the Minister for Minerals and Energy in the Whitlam Government from 1972 to 1975. Connor was born in Wollongong, New South Wales. William John Hunter (27 February 194021 May 2011) was an Australian actor of film, stage and television, who was also prominent as a voice-over artist.
