The Dirty Sock Funtime Band was an American rock band formed in New York City. "A rock band for kids that really rocks," in the words of Chris Barron of the Spin Doctors, who is a featured vocalist on the CD "Mr. Clown and the Day the Sun Got Wet". They were featured on the Noggin TV program ''Jack's Big Music Show'' and were also invited to compose music for a Nick Jr. recycling PSA titled "Playful Parent", and band member Mike Messer sang a rocked-up version of the ''Wonder Pets ''Wonder Pets!'' is an American educational animated children's television series created by Josh Selig for Nickelodeon. Spin Doctors
Spin Doctors are an American alternative rock band from New York City, best known for their early 1990s hits "Two Princes" and "Little Miss Can't Be Wrong", which peaked on the Billboard Hot 100, ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart at No. 7 and No. 17, respectively. The band currently consists of Chris Barron (lead vocals), Eric Schenkman (guitar and vocals) and Aaron Comess (drums, bass and keyboards). History The group originated in the late 1980s in New York City, originally as a band called Trucking Company; this band included Canadian guitarist Eric Schenkman, harmonicist John Popper, and later vocalist Chris Barron, who was Popper's Princeton, New Jersey high school friend. Popper left this side project to focus on his main gig with Blues Traveler full-time. With a name change to Spin Doctors, as well as the addition of Aaron Comess on drums and Mark White on bass, the classic lineup was in place by the spring of 1989. Noggin (television)
Noggin is an American entertainment brand launched on February 2, 1999, as a joint venture between MTV Networks (owners of Nickelodeon) and Sesame Workshop. It started out as a cable television channel and interactive website, both centered around the concepts of imagination, creativity, and education. Since its launch, the brand has expanded to include a mobile streaming app and multiple defunct programming blocks worldwide. When launched as a TV channel, Noggin was mainly aimed at pre-teens and teenagers. Programming was divided into three distinct blocks: one for pre-teens and teens, an early morning block for preschoolers, and a nighttime block for reruns of "retro" programs. The channel heavily drew from Sesame Workshop's back catalogue. Jack's Big Music Show
''Jack's Big Music Show'' is an American musical children's television series produced for the Noggin channel. It was created and executive produced by David Rudman, Todd Hannert, and Adam Rudman through their company Spiffy Pictures. The main character is a young puppet musician named Jack who has a musical clubhouse in his backyard. The premiere episode was simulcast on both Noggin and its sister channel, Nickelodeon, on September 12, 2005. The show ran for two seasons and 26 episodes in total, which finished airing on October 13, 2007. The popularity of the show made the idea of appearing on it attractive to musicians. An executive from Noggin in 2006 said that they were "clamoring to get onto ''Jack's Big Music Show''." In 2008, the show was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Pre-School Children's Series. Wonder Pets
''Wonder Pets!'' is an American educational animated children's television series created by Josh Selig for Nickelodeon. The series follows a trio of classroom pets—Linny the Guinea Pig, Turtle Tuck and Ming-Ming Duckling—who use teamwork to help animals in need. Most of the characters' dialogue is sung in the style of operetta. Each episode is set to original music by a 10-member live orchestra. Selig developed the idea for ''Wonder Pets!'' in between the production cycles of his previous show, '' Oobi''. The series began with two animated shorts called "Linny the Guinea Pig," which acted as a pilot episode. They featured Linny going on adventures set to classical music. Selig first screened the shorts at the wrap party for ''Oobi''s first season. The crew of ''Oobi'' was impressed with them and urged Selig to pitch them to a TV channel.
