The Derelicts
The Derelicts were a London-based " ctivistR&B band" active from 1974–1976, well known on the London pub rock/squat rock circuit, consisting of Susan Gogan, lead vox/artwork; Richard Williams, drums; Barbara Gogan, guitar/backing vox; Marion Fudger, bass; and John Studholme, guitar; Debby Moss, violin; John Harris, bass; Alan Lofting, who was shy and would play facing the back of the stage, guitar; Sue Allegra, vox/backing vox; Dan Kelleher, ex 101-ers, bass. The band was started when Sue Allegra, who was working at the Fender Soundhouse, phoned Barbara one day and told her: "Find thirty quid. I'm sending a man over with a Les Paul copy and an AC30 amp, and you're going to buy them." Then Richard went to Bristol and got his drums out of storage. A couple of weeks later, they played their first show upstairs in a pub in northwest London. Pub Rock (United Kingdom)
Pub rock is a rock music genre that was developed in the early to mid-1970s in the United Kingdom. A back-to-basics movement which incorporated roots rock, pub rock was a reaction against the expensively-recorded and produced progressive rock and flashy glam rock scenes of the time. Although short-lived, pub rock was live rock played in small traditional venues like pubs and clubs. Since major labels showed no interest in pub rock groups, pub rockers sought out independent record labels such as Stiff Records. Indie labels used relatively inexpensive recording processes, so they had a much lower break-even point for a record than a major label. With pub rock's emphasis on small venues, simple, fairly inexpensive recordings and indie record labels, it was the catalyst for the development of the British punk rock scene. The Passions (British Band)
The Passions were a British post-punk/ new wave band which formed in 1978 and disbanded in 1983. The Passions' music was grounded mainly in Barbara Gogan's voice and Clive Timperley's delicate Echoplex guitar work. They were considered one of the one-hit wonders due to their early 1981 single "I'm in Love with a German Film Star". History Based in Shepherd's Bush in west London, The Passions formed in early 1978 as the Youngsters with a line-up of Gogan (guitar, vocals), Claire Bidwell (bass guitar), Richard Williams (drums), Dack Dyde (guitar) and Mitch Barker (vocals). Williams and Gogan were previously in the punk rock outfit the Derelicts. After a name change to Rivers of Passion, soon shortened to The Passions, Dyde was replaced by Timperley (formerly of The 101ers). PragVEC was a post-punk band from London, England, formed in 1978. The band name was a contraction of the two words "pragmatism" and "vector", chosen at random. The Art Attacks
The Art Attacks were an English Punk rock, punk band from April 1977 to March 1978. Their songs released as singles were "I am a Dalek"/"Neutron Bomb" and "Punk Rock Stars"/"Rat City". The group was formed by Edwin Pouncey and Steve Spear, two students from the Royal College of Art, London for a one-off gig at the college. They were asked to do a gig at Wimbledon College of Art and this led to the band's short career. They had two tracks on the ''Live at the Vortex'' (NEMS) compilation album, ("Frankensteins Heartbeat" and "Animal Bondage") and one on the ''Streets (punk album), Streets'' (Beggars Banquet Records) compilation album, ("Arabs in Arrads"). They played at most of the London punk club and pub venues including The Marquee, Nashville and Vortex supporting bands like Generation X (band), Generation X, 999 (band), 999, The Motors and The Lurkers.
