The Dancing Marquis
''The Dancing Marquis'' is the eighteenth solo studio album by the British singer/songwriter Marc Almond. It was released by Strike Force Entertainment / Cherry Red Records on 16 June 2014. Background ''The Dancing Marquis'' compiles the songs from the limited edition 7" vinyl EPs ''Burn Bright'' and ''Tasmanian Tiger'' together with two new tracks and two remixes. The album features guest appearances from Jarvis Cocker and Carl Barât, and some of the tracks were produced by Tony Visconti. The title track is named for Henry Paget, 5th Marquess of Anglesey according to Almond in an interview with author Tony O'Neill. The Marquess "haunts Almond's new album", which O'Neill calls "Marc's poppiest and most accessible work in years". The song "Death of a Dandy" is a tribute to the London artist Sebastian Horsley who had died at the time and features a guest appearance from Danielz, who plays in the T-Rex tribute band T.Rextasy. Marc Almond
Peter Mark Sinclair "Marc" Almond, (born 9 July 1957) is an English singer. Almond first began performing and recording in the synthpop/ new wave duo Soft Cell where he became known for his distinctive soulful voice and androgynous image. He has also had a diverse career as a solo artist. His collaborations include a duet with Gene Pitney on the 1989 UK number one single "Something's Gotten Hold of My Heart". Almond's career spanning over four decades has enjoyed critical and commercial acclaim, and he has sold over 30 million records worldwide. He spent a month in a coma after a near-fatal motorcycle accident in 2004 and later became a patron of the brain trauma charity Headway. He was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2018 New Year Honours for services to arts and culture. Martin McCarrick
Martin McCarrick (born 29 July 1962) is an English cellist, keyboardist, guitarist and composer. Aside from being a live and recording artist, he is also a teacher and visiting lecturer in music. Career His first recording in the pop/rock arena was in Marc and the Mambas album ''Torment and Toreros'', back 1983 and he has since maintained an association with Marc Almond. Siouxsie and the Banshees He is known for his work with Siouxsie and the Banshees from 1987 until 1995. Programming is a form of music production and performance using electronic devices and computer software, such as sequencers and workstations or hardware synthesizers, sampler and sequencers, to generate sounds of musical instruments. Steve Nieve
Steve Nieve ( "naïve"; born Stephen John Nason, 21 February 1958) is an English musician and composer. In a career spanning more than 40 years, Nieve has been a member of Elvis Costello's backing bands the Attractions, the Imposters and Madness. He has also experienced success as a prolific session musician, featured on a wide array of other artists' recordings. In 2003, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Elvis Costello and the Attractions. Early years Nieve was born in Bishop's Stortford, England, and attended the Royal College of Music, but dropped out in 1977 to join Costello's backing band the Attractions. Nason received his musical moniker "Nieve" (pronounced " naïve") while on the Attractions' first tour for Stiff Records. Davey Ray Moor
Davey Ray Moor (born David Raymond Moore, Beirut) is an England-based songwriter, singer, multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer. Biography Davey Ray Moor was born as David Raymond Moore in Beirut, his father was an accountant for the United Nations. As a teen he had asthma attacks and was confined indoors where he learned to play the piano by playing along to Elton John and David Bowie. He was raised in Canberra and Sydney. In Canberra he had attended Copland College alongside Russell Kilbey and Charles Ratcliffe. In 1983 Moor, on keyboards and vocals, with Kilbey, Phil Maher and Ratcliffe formed a psychedelic rock group, the Crystal Set, in Sydney. All Seeing I
The All Seeing I were a British electronic music group from Sheffield, England, comprising Dean Honer, Jason Buckle and DJ Parrot (real name Richard Barratt). Biography The band released their first single "I Walk" in 1997, but it was not until the year after that they gained mainstream commercial success with the song " Beat Goes On", a remixed cover of the Sonny Bono song, using the vocals from Buddy Rich's version, which were sung by his daughter Cathy. Their works were something of a Sheffield collective, and the trio worked with artists from the city including Tony Christie, Jarvis Cocker, Philip Oakey, Babybird and many others. Their regular live vocalist was Bozz, who later went on to form electronica duo Hiem. Michael Cashmore
Michael Cashmore is an English composer and musician currently living in Berlin. He has created music under the name of Nature and Organisation since the early 1980s and more recently (2006) under his own name. Cashmore was a member of the group Current 93 from the late 1980s until around 2006. He composed the majority of the music for the group during that period. He has collaborated with many artists including David Tibet, Antony and the Johnsons, Bill Fay, Marc Almond, Nick Cave, Rose McDowall, Douglas P and Steven Stapleton. After moving to Berlin in 2004 Cashmore broke several years of silence by releasing his first solo CD ''Sleep England'' in May 2006. Neal X
Neal X (born Neal Whitmore) was the guitarist with the British band Sigue Sigue Sputnik. They had a No. 3 UK hit single with "Love Missile F1-11" in 1986. He has also worked as a sideman for Adam Ant and Marc Almond. Whitmore founded the Montecristos who released their debut album ''Born to Rock 'N' Roll'' in 2015.
