The Damned (band)
The Damned are an English punk rock band formed in London in 1976 by lead vocalist Dave Vanian, guitarist Brian James, bassist (and later guitarist) Captain Sensible, and drummer Rat Scabies. They were the first punk band from the United Kingdom to release a single, "New Rose" (1976), release a studio album, ''Damned Damned Damned'' (1977), and tour the United States. They have nine singles that charted on the UK Singles Chart Top 40. The band briefly broke up after '' Music for Pleasure'' (1977), the follow-up to their debut studio album, was critically dismissed. They quickly reformed without Brian James, and released ''Machine Gun Etiquette'' (1979). In the 1980s they released four studio albums, '' The Black Album'' (1980), ''Strawberries'' (1982), '' Phantasmagoria'' (1985), and '' Anything'' (1986), which saw the band moving towards a gothic rock style. Monty Oxymoron
Monty Oxymoron (born Laurence Burrow, 27 September 1961 in Cambridge, England) is a keyboardist for the English punk rock group the Damned. Biography His previous bands include Punk Floyd and Dr. Spacetoad Experience, with Captain Sensible. He released a few solo projects in the 1980s and 2000s. He joined the Damned in early 1996 and continues to tour and record with them. Monty also works as keyboardist and percussionist with the Sumerian Kyngs and as keyboardist with Tim Burness. He has spoken of love of psychedelic music, whose influence he claims to have heard in pre-Oxymoron Damned albums beginning with 1979's ''Machine Gun Etiquette''. In 2007, along with Damned bandmate Sensible, he attended a memorial to Pink Floyd founder Syd Barrett. In the 1980s, he trained as a psychiatric nurse and has worked as a nurse part time since then. Stu West (born 24 December 1964, Lincolnshire, England) was the bassist for the English punk band the Damned from 2004 to September 2017. He joined in 2004, when the past bassist, Patricia Morrison Patricia Anne Rainone (born January 14, 1962), better known by her stage name Patricia Morrison, is an American bass guitarist, singer and songwriter. Patricia Anne Rainone (born January 14, 1962), better known by her stage name Patricia Morrison, is an American bass guitarist, singer and songwriter. She has worked with Bags, The Gun Club, Fur Bible, The Sisters of Mercy, and the Damned. Moose Harris is a British Bassist, bass guitarist, who was known as Jason James Harris until June 2001, when he legally changed his name to reflect his former nickname and adopted professional alias of "Moose". Biography Although born in Devizes (Wiltshire, England), Harris never lived there, being raised and schooled in the Wiltshire village of Pewsey. Kris Dollimore
Kris Dollimore (born 2 January 1966) is an English rock guitarist, who is best known for being a founding member of the Godfathers as well as a member of the Damned and Del Amitri. He also performs and records as a solo artist. Biography Kris Dollimore was born on the Isle of Sheppey in northern Kent, where he lived until the age of 19 when he moved to London. His first appearance on a recording was in 1984 as guitarist and lead vocalist on the sole album by the pub rock-ish Major Setback Band, which also included his older brother Ian on bass. The following year, at age 19, he co-formed alternative rock band the Godfathers, with whom he recorded three albums. Bryn Merrick
Bryn Merrick (12 October 1958 – 12 September 2015) was a bassist who was a member of Cardiff-based punk band Victimize. He later joined the Damned between 1983 and 1989, replacing Paul Gray, who had left for UFO. Merrick's first release with the Damned was the single "Thanks for the Night" b/w "Nasty". He was the Damned's bassist on the albums ''Phantasmagoria'' (1985) and ''Anything'' (1986). Roman Jugg
Roman Jugg (born 25 July 1957 in Caerphilly, South Wales) is a keyboard player and guitarist. He began his career in the Welsh punk band Victimize in the late 1970s. An acquaintance of Paul Gray, Jugg was originally hired in late 1981, recording various projects for The Damned, Naz Nomad and the Nightmares and David Vanian and the Phantom Chords. Jugg's alias during his Naz gigs was Sphinx Svenson. After Captain Sensible left The Damned in 1984, Jugg moved from keyboards to main guitar and became a full member on the studio albums ''Phantasmagoria'' (1985) and ''Anything'' (1986). After the 1989 breakup of The Damned he continued to work with Dave Vanian and Bryn Merrick, forming The Phantom Chords. Alasdair Mackie "Algy" Ward (born 11 July 1959) is an English heavy metal bass guitarist and singer. He founded Tank, a part of the new wave of British heavy metal movement.
