The Dakota Tavern is a live music venue and bar in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. History The Dakota opened in 2007. It's co-owned by business partners. It is located in the Little Italy, Toronto, Little Italy neighbourhood of Toronto. The bar participates as a venue yearly for North by Northeast. The venue also hosts a recurring event on weekends ''Bluegrass Brunch''. In 2020, owners of the bar expressed concerns about rising insurance prices during the COVID-19 pandemic in Toronto and considered closing. Marlon Chaplin is a Canadian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Toronto, Ontario. He is known for playing with ''Broken Bricks'', '' Freeman Dre and the Kitchen Party'', '' Suitcase Sam'' and ''Ada Dahli''. He currently records and performs as his own self-titled project. Delainey Doucha Barber (born October 14, 1983) is a Canadian independent folk, folk rock, Americana, and alternative country singer-songwriter, musician, and record producer. Sleepy Sun was an American psychedelic rock band, formed in Santa Cruz, California and now based in San Francisco. The band was composed of vocalist Bret Constantino, guitarists Matt Holliman and Evan Reiss, and drummer Brian Tice. The band released five studio albums before quietly disbanding in 2019. Slow Down Molasses is a Canadian indie rock band from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The current five piece lineup consists of Tyson McShane, Aaron Scholz, Levi Soulodre, Chris Morin and Jordan Kurtz. Gordon Edgar Downie (February 6, 1964 – October 17, 2017) was a Canadian rock singer-songwriter, musician, writer and activist. He was the singer and lyricist for the Canadian rock band The Tragically Hip, which he fronted from its formation in 1984 until his death in 2017. Corb Lund is a Canadian country and western singer-songwriter from Taber, Alberta, Canada. He has released eleven albums, three of which are certified gold. Lund tours regularly in Canada, the United States and Australia, and has received several awards in Canada and abroad. Biography Corb Lund grew up in Southern Alberta living on his family's farm and ranches near Taber, Cardston and Rosemary. Lund left his hometown of Taber and moved to Edmonton, where he enrolled in the Grant MacEwan College to study jazz guitar and bass. Lund was a founding member of The Smalls. Lindi Ortega (born May 28, 1980) is a Canadian country singer-songwriter from Toronto, Ontario, who had lived in Nashville, Tennessee then moved to Western Canada in 2017. Jason Collett is a Toronto-based Canadian singer-songwriter. He has released six solo studio albums, and is a former member of Broken Social Scene.
