The Cult Of Sincerity
''The Cult of Sincerity'' is an independent film about hipster culture and postmodernist irony set in Williamsburg in Brooklyn. It was released in its entirety on YouTube on April 8, 2008, making it the first time that YouTube had partnered with filmmakers for a film premiere. The film was later released as a digital download, with some of the proceeds going to the charity Fount of Mercy. Production The filmmakers collaborated with Amie Street, a digital music site for indie musicians, to help pay for the production. Plot When his mother informs Joseph that she's divorcing his father Joseph enters into a protracted existential crisis. Unhappy with the way society is moving, Joseph decides to attempt to turn back the flow of cynicism with a series of well-intentioned gestures and a slogan that he can put on a t-shirt. Daniel Nayeri
Daniel Nayeri is an Iranian-American author. His 2020 autobiographical novel, '' Everything Sad Is Untrue'', received a Michael L. Printz Award, a Walter Dean Myers Award, and a Christopher Award. Biography Nayeri was born in Iran, and fled the country with his sister Dina, and their mother, a doctor, after a Fatwa had been issued against her. They lived for three years in refuge camps in Dubai and Rome before settling in 1990—when Nayeri was eight years old—in Edmond, Oklahoma. Nayeri attended Edmond Memorial High School, and New York University, where he studies writing. Nayeri was publisher of Odd Dot, a children's publishing group at Macmillan Publishers, before leaving in 2020 to pursue full-time writing. Nayeri lives with his wife and son in New Jersey. New Sincerity
New Sincerity (closely related to and sometimes described as synonymous with post-postmodernism) is a trend in music, aesthetics, literary fiction, film criticism, poetry, literary criticism and philosophy that generally describes creative works that expand upon and break away from concepts of postmodernist irony and cynicism.
