The Countess Died Of Laughter
''The Countess Died of Laughter'' (German: ''Frau Wirtins tolle Töchterlein'', Italian: ''Leva lo diavolo tuo dal... convento'') is a 1973 Austrian-Italian sex comedy film directed by Franz Antel. It is the final entry in Franz Antel's series '' Frau Wirtin'' and incorporates a great deal of archive footage from earlier films. Plot Susanne Delberg (Teri Tordai as Terry Torday) who has become Countess Süderland dies under absurd circumstances. It is revealed that Susanne had a daughter, whom she had named heiress to her inheritance; however, her identity is obscured except for the fact that she was known to have been living in a convent. The handsome executor Vincent van der Straten ( Gabriele Tinti) is assigned to the task of uncovering the identity of the heiress. There are five possible candidates: Françoise (Maja Hoppe), Clarissa (Femi Benussi as Femy Benussi), Susanne (Sonja Jeannine), Piroschka (Marika Mindzenthy), and Anselma (Alena Penz). Franz Antel
Franz Antel (28 June 1913 – 11 August 2007) was a veteran Austrian filmmaker. Born in Vienna, Antel worked mainly as a film producer in the interwar years. After World War II, he began writing and directing films on a large scale. In the late 1940s, 1950s and 1960s these were mainly comedies ( romantic, slapstick, and/or musical) and K.u.k. films' all of which, for Austrian and German TV stations alike, have been a staple of weekend afternoon programming ever since. In between there is quite a sober film about the Oberst (Colonel) Redl affair that shook the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy on the eve of World War I. Antel himself later commented on this period, "I always wanted to provide good entertainment for the people at the cinema. Kurt Großkurth (or Grosskurth; 11 May 1909 – 29 May 1975) was a German actor and singer. Biography Grosskurth was born in Langenselbold, Germany, in 1909. He grew up in Rhineland-Palatinate. In the 1920s, he followed his father's wish and went on to study hotel management in Essen, London and Heidelberg. In the early 1930s, he discovered his passion for the stage and he picked up acting and singing in Bavaria. He quickly started performing as a singer, mostly around the Munich area, and guest starred as a tenor in Hamburg and Berlin. After the war, he got hired by several theaters and performed in operettas in Düsseldorf, Munich and Cologne, repeatedly directed by star conductor Franz Marszalek. As the 50s rolled along, he became a familiar movie figure throughout the country. Paul Löwinger
Paul Löwinger (10 November 1904 – 17 December 1988) was an Austrian actor, theatre manager and writer. While still a child, he performed on his parents' stage, the Löwinger Bühne. In 1938 they were probably the first theatre ensemble which performed in front of television cameras. The same year he married Liesl Meinhard. The couple had three children: Guggi Löwinger, Sissy Löwinger and Paul Löwinger. He took over the Löwinger Bühne in 1947. Löwinger wrote numerous comedies and well known plays. His plays were often broadcast on television. He also took part in numerous German and Austrian films, such as "Zyankali" (1947) or "Kaiserball" (1956) and became internationally popular. His daughter Sissy managed the family-owned theatre until her death on 25 September 2011. Löwinger was buried (like his wife) at the Wiener Zentralfriedhof.
