William Norwood Wadsworth (7 June 1874–6 June 1950) was an American actor of the silent era best known for his roles in early Westerns, playing the villain in ''What Happened to Mary?'' (1912), the first Western film serial and for playing Samuel Pickwick in ''Mr Pickwick's Predicament'' (1912), an early screen adaptation of ''The Pickwick Papers''. Saul (; he, , ; , ; ) was, according to the Hebrew Bible, the first monarch of the United Kingdom of Israel. His reign, traditionally placed in the late 11th century BCE, supposedly marked the transition of Israel and Judah from a scattered tribal society to organized statehood.
