Concert
A concert is a live music performance in front of an audience. The performance may be by a single musician, sometimes then called a recital, or by a musical ensemble, such as an orchestra, choir, or band. Concerts are held in a wide variety and size of settings, from private houses and small nightclubs, dedicated concert halls, amphitheatres and parks, to large multipurpose buildings, such as arenas and stadiums. Indoor concerts held in the largest venues are sometimes called ''arena concerts'' or ''amphitheatre concerts''. Informal names for a concert include ''show'' and ''gig''. Regardless of the venue, musicians usually perform on a stage (if not actual then an area of the floor designated as such). Concerts often require live event support with professional audio equipment. Before recorded music, concerts provided the main opportunity to hear musicians play. For large concerts or concert tours, the challenging logistics of arranging the musicians, venue, equipment and ...

Ginell awarded the album 3 stars and states, "This set is not to be confused with the earlier, more consistently inspired '' Solo Concerts'' triple album which made Jarrett a star, yet the pianist was far from tapped out in these performances. Jarrett is often in his best lyrically funky form... this is far more interesting and elevated music-maki ...

The Concert (Vermeer)
''The Concert'' (Dutch: ''Het concert'') ( 1664) is a painting by the Dutch artist Johannes Vermeer depicting a man and two women performing music. It was stolen on March 18, 1990 from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston and remains missing. Experts believe it may be the most valuable stolen object in the world; as of 2015, it was valued at US$250 million. History Although ''The Concert'' has been dated stylistically to the mid-1660s, it is first documented only in 1780. It was acquired by Isabella Stewart Gardner in an 1892 auction in Paris for $5,000 and subsequently displayed in the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. On the night of March 18, 1990, thieves disguised as policemen stole 13 works from the museum, including ''The Concert''. To this day the painting has not resurfaced; it is thought to be the most valuable work currently unrecovered, with a value estimated at US$250 million. Description The picture measures 28.5 by 25.5 inches (72.5 by 64.7 centimetres) ...

The Concert (Titian)
''The Concert'' or ''The Interrupted Concert'' is a c. 1543–1564 oil on canvas painting by Titian, now in the Galleria Palatina, in Florence. A copy in the Galleria Borghese includes an additional fourth figure. History In 1678 Carlo Ridolfi saw a work on a similar subject in Paolo del Sera's collection, possibly the work now in the Galleria Palatina. The latter is first definitively recorded in 1654, when it was acquired as a Giorgione work by cardinal Leopoldo de' Medici, whose collections later merged with that of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany. Sebastiano del Piombo and Giovanni Cariani have also been mentioned in the past as possible alternative attributions. First proposed in 1896 by Giovanni Morelli, the attribution to Titian is now generally accepted. An upper strip of canvas, added to the work at a later date, was removed in 1976–1978. That restoration also re-dated the work from c. 1521 to 1555–1589. Conductor Bruno Walter mentions that Gustav Mahler had a reprod ...

Gerard Ter Borch
Gerard ter Borch (; December 1617 – 8 December 1681), also known as Gerard Terburg (), was a Dutch genre painter who lived in the Dutch Golden Age. He influenced fellow Dutch painters Gabriel Metsu, Gerrit Dou, Eglon van der Neer and Johannes Vermeer. According to Arthur K. Wheelock Jr., Ter Borch "established a new framework for subject matter, taking people into the sanctum of the home", showing the figures' uncertainties and expertly hinting at their inner lives. His influence as a painter, however, was later surpassed by Vermeer. Biography Gerard ter Borch was born in December 1617 in Zwolle in the province of Overijssel in the Dutch Republic. He received an excellent education from his father Gerard ter Borch the Elder, also an artist, and developed his talent very early. The inscription on a study of a head proves that Ter Borch was at Amsterdam in 1632, where he studied possibly under Willem Cornelisz Duyster or Pieter Codde. Duyster's influence can be traced in a pic ...

The Concert (ter Borch)
''The Concert'' is an oil on panel painting by the Dutch artist Gerard ter Borch, created ''c.'' 1673–1675. The work is held in the Gemäldegalerie, in Berlin. History and description Ter Borch was a painter who paid a lot of attention to the narrative aspects in his paintings. In psychologically suggestive scenes, he calls for interpretation about the depicted event and the interaction that takes place within. He consciously appeals to a certain curiosity about the thoughts or state of mind of the characters. He hardly gives any indications, not even in the titles, about what happens in the scene. Viewers are allowed to construct their own story. Its also the case in the present work. ''The Concert'' depicts two young women playing musical instruments in a domestic environment. The woman in the foreground plays the cello, while the young lady in the background plays the harpsichord. The mutual relationship between the two figures remains uncertain. The cellist, promintely dep ...
