The Committee (film)
''The Committee'' is a 1968 British independent black-and-white film noir film. It featured original music by Pink Floyd as well as Arthur Brown's song "Nightmare". Plot The movie follows a man ( Paul Jones) who is unnamed. The movie starts out with the central character in a car with a man (Tom Kempinski) who just picked him up. The victim talks to him, but he is uninterested. The victim decides to pull over because he does not like the sound of the engine. While he is looking under the bonnet of the car the central character slams the bonnet down on his head several times, decapitating him in the process. The central character eventually sews the head back on, and the victim wakes up. The central character tells him he does not want to drive anymore that day and to leave without him. Peter Sykes (director)
Peter Sykes (June 17, 1939 – March 1, 2006) was an Australian television and film director who worked primarily in the United Kingdom. According to ''Filmink'' "auteurist critics always seem to pass him by." Biography He was born in Melbourne and worked as a dancer, then as an assistant director on documentaries and children's shows on Australian television. He moved to London in 1963. He wrote to a fellow Australian, Donald Levy, admiring a documentary Levy had made called ''Time In''. Sykes worked for Levy as an assistant on the film ''Herostratus''. Sykes did an 18-month training cadetship with the BBC then made the documentary '' Walkabout to Cornwall''. He was commissioned to make a series of films for the British Pavilion exhibit at Expo 67 in Montreal. The series was called ''Britain Around the World''. "Careful with That Axe, Eugene" is an instrumental piece by the British rock band Pink Floyd. It was recorded in November 1968 and released as the B-side to the single " Point Me at the Sky", and featured on the 1971 compilation album ''Relics''. It was re-recorded for the 1970 film ''Zabriskie Point'', retitling it "Come In Number 51, Your Time Is Up" The song became a live favourite for Pink Floyd. Live versions can be found on various releases, such as the live half of the double album ''Ummagumma'' and the film '' Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii''. It was released by Pink Floyd Records with distribution held by Warner Music for the UK and Europe and Sony Music for the rest of the world. The box set comprises seven volumes over 33 discs, including CDs, DVDs, BDs, vinyl records, plus memorabilia including photos, posters and tour programmes. It contains early non-album singles plus unreleased studio and live recordings.
