The Combat (1926 Film)
''The Combat'' is a 1926 American silent Western film directed by Lynn Reynolds and starring House Peters, Wanda Hawley, and Walter McGrail. Plot As described in a film magazine review, two-fisted lumberjack Blaze Burke is made boss of Jerry Flint's logging camp and proceeds to eliminate an opposition gang of huskies led by Red McLaughlin. Double-crossed by Milton Symmons, he takes the latter's prospective bride Alice Childers to a lonely cabin. Trailed by McLaughlin, they fight with McLaughlin falling over a cliff to his death. Blaze restores Alice to Milton. Subsequently he saves Alice from a forest fire but Milton perishes in it. In the end, Blaze wins the affections of Alice. Lynn Reynolds
Lynn Fairfield Reynolds (May 7, 1889 – February 25, 1927) was an American director and screenwriter. Reynolds directed more than 80 films between 1915 and 1928. He also wrote for 58 films between 1914 and 1927. Reynolds was born in Harlan, Iowa and died in Los Angeles, California, from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Death Returning home in 1927 after being snowbound in the Sierras for three weeks, Reynolds telephoned his wife, actress Kathleen O'Connor, to arrange a dinner party at their Hollywood home with another couple. During the dinner, Reynolds and O'Connor engaged in a heated quarrel in which each accused the other of infidelity. With his guests following in an attempt to calm him down, Reynolds left the table to retrieve a pistol from another room where he shot himself in the head. Charles Hill Mailes
Charles Hill Mailes (25 May 1870 – 17 February 1937) was a Canadian actor of the silent era. Biography Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, in 1870, Mailes appeared in 290 films between 1909 and 1935. He married the actress Claire McDowell in 1906 and the happy couple appeared in numerous silent films together including '' The Mark of Zorro'' (1920). They had two sons, Robert and Eugene. He died in Los Angeles, California, in 1937. Steve Clemente
Steve Clemente (born Esteban Clemento Morro November 22, 1885 – May 7, 1950) was a Mexican-American actor known for his many villainous roles. He began acting in his teens, signing up for his first movie, ''The Secret Man'', in 1917. His later roles were usually bit parts. In 1922, he came to Hollywood to put on a knife demonstration for a disbelieving director. He was trusted to throw knives in movies that had to land an inch or two away from a celebrity. He always got right on target, and developed a good reputation for stunts. He was a known scene stealer and was famous for his villainous snarl. He later appeared in such movies as ''The Most Dangerous Game'' (1932), playing Tartar, the second henchman of Count Zarrof and played the Witch King in ''King Kong'' (1933) and its sequel ''Son of Kong'' (1933).
