The Chrysalids (radio)
''The Chrysalids'' is an adaptation of the John Wyndham 1955 novel of the same name, produced as a radio play by the BBC in March 1981. It was first broadcast on BBC Radio 4 on the 25 April 1981 with an audience of 150,000 listeners. The play was edited into three half hour episodes and broadcast in Canada by CBC Radio from 10 June to 24 June 1983. (There was a new adaptation of the book by Jane Rogers in 2012, broadcast in two one-hour episodes on BBC Radio 4.) CD release The Radio Play was released on CD as an Audiobook in 2007. It was entitled ''The Chrysalids & Survival'' and contained the original 1981 version of the ''Chrysalids'' and the 1989 BBC radio 4 adaptation of John Wyndham's Survival. John Wyndham
John Wyndham Parkes Lucas Beynon Harris (; 10 July 1903 – 11 March 1969) was an English science fiction writer best known for his works published under the pen name John Wyndham, although he also used other combinations of his names, such as John Beynon and Lucas Parkes. Some of his works were set in post-apocalyptic landscapes. His best known works include ''The Day of the Triffids'' (1951), filmed in 1962, and ''The Midwich Cuckoos'' (1957), which was filmed in 1960 as '' Village of the Damned'', in 1995 under the same title, and again in 2022 in Sky Max under its original title. Wyndham was born in Warwickshire and spent most of his childhood in private education in Devon and Hampshire. He tried several careers before publishing a novel and several short stories. Susan Haydn Thomas (18 March 1947 – 8 August 2015) better known as Susan Sheridan, was an English voice actress. Barbara Clegg
Barbara Clegg (born 1 March 1926) is a British actress and scriptwriter for television and radio. Biography She was born in March 1926 in Manchester, England. Her parents were Herbert Clegg and Ethel Moores, sister of Sir John Moores who founded the Littlewoods Empire and they ran an artificial flower making factory in Manchester. She spent her early years in Gatley. After obtaining an English degree at Oxford University, Clegg decided to pursue a career in the theatre. Initial work as an understudy led to more substantial roles, most notably her turn as Cleopatra opposite Cyril Luckham's Caesar at the Liverpool Playhouse.
