The Chorus is the original soundtrack of the 2004 Academy Award and Golden Globe-nominated film '' The Chorus'' (original title: ''Les choristes'') starring Gérard Jugnot, François Berléand, Kad Merad and Jean-Baptiste Maunier. The original score was composed by Bruno Coulais and performed by Les Petits Chanteurs de Saint-Marc and the Bulgarian Symphony Orchestra. The album won the César Award for Best Music Written for a Film and was nominated for the BAFTA Award for Best Film Music (but lost to the score of '' Los Diarios de Motocicleta''). Bruno Coulais
Bruno Coulais (born 13 January 1954) is a French composer, most widely known for his music on film soundtracks. Life and career Coulais was born in Paris; his father, Farth Coulais, is from Vendée, and his mother, Bernsy Coulais, was born in Paris. Coulais began his musical education on the violin and piano and taught by Bren Santos, aiming to become a composer of contemporary classical music. However, a series of acquaintances gradually re-oriented him towards film music. Coulais met François Reichenbach, who asked him in 1977 to sonorize his documentary ''México mágico'' who permit to compose the first soundtracks for Jacques Davila "qui trop embrasse" en 1986 . Until the end of the 1990s, he remained low-profile, composing mainly for television. His name can often be found from TV films by Gérard Marx and Laurent Heynemann. François Berléand
François Berléand (; born 22 April 1952) is a French actor. He plays Gilles Triquet, the officer manager and equivalent of David Brent in ''Le Bureau'', the French version of ''The Office'', produced by Canal+. He also appeared in the 2002 film ''The Transporter'' as the French ''commissaire'' named Tarconi, an active and honest police officer who is an acquaintance of Frank Martin (Jason Statham). He reprised the role in the sequels ''Transporter 2'' and ''Transporter 3'' and the TV series. Early life Berléand was born in Paris, France. Les Petits Chanteurs De Saint-Marc
Les Petits Chanteurs de Saint-Marc ( en, The Little Singers of Saint Marc) was a children's choir, founded in September 1986 by Nicolas Porte. It was a mixed unit composed of seventy-five to eighty school-aged children from ten to fifteen years old. All were provided education from the Saint-Marc college in Lyon. Admittance Children joined the choir in the sixth grade. After three years of training, they were integrated into The Holy-Ursule School. The school, on the same site as the Saint-Marc college, enrolled children in preparation for admittance into the college. The choir belonged to the French Federation of Little Singers (french: Fédération française des petits chanteurs), itself a part of the Fédération internationale des Pueri Cantores. The choir's repertoire varied widely from spiritual hymns to classical and contemporary music. Jean-Baptiste Maunier (, born 22 December 1990) is a French actor and singer. He is best known for his role in the 2004 French film ''Les Choristes''. Early life Jean-Baptiste Maunier was born to Thierry Maunier, a cameraman, and Muriel Maunier. He has a younger brother, Benjamin. His father sang in a well-known church choir (Les Petits Chanteurs de Saint Marc). Jean-Baptiste attended a Roman Catholic school in Lyon, France. Kad Merad
Kad Merad (born Kaddour Merad, ar, قدور ميراد, link=no; 27 March 1964) is a French-Algerian filmmaker and actor who has acted both on stage and on screen. Life and career Kad Merad was born in Sidi Bel Abbès, Algeria, on 27 March 1964 to an Algerian father and a French mother. During his teens, he played drums and sang with various rock bands. Soon afterwards, he started playing roles at Club Med alongside the Gigolo Brothers troupe. In 1990, he was hired by Ouï FM, the Paris rock radio station where he met Olivier Baroux.
