The Chief'' formerly ''The Chief-Leader,'' is a long-established newspaper focused on civil service and local government in New York City. Privately owned, it was established in 1897 by Joseph J. O'Reilly, and was first aimed at city firefighters. The weekly newspaper is known for in-depth coverage of the unions representing civil servants. Civil Service
The civil service is a collective term for a sector of government composed mainly of career civil servants hired on professional merit rather than appointed or elected, whose institutional tenure typically survives transitions of political leadership. The September 11 attacks, commonly known as 9/11, were four coordinated suicide terrorist attacks carried out by al-Qaeda against the United States on Tuesday, September 11, 2001.
