The Celebrity Game
''The Celebrity Game'' is an Australian game show that aired in two different formats. The original series, based on an American game show of the same name, was hosted by Bert Newton on the Nine Network in 1969 as ''Australia's Celebrity Game''. The later series, based on the game of charades, involving two teams of celebrities, was hosted by Mike Preston on Network Ten ran from 1976 to 1977. Gameplay In the original 1969 version, similar to the 1964 American version, a panel of nine celebrities were asked a question on a popular topic, and three contestants were then asked to choose a celebrity and to tell how that contestant voted. After every three turns, if all three contestants correctly guessed the celebrity's answers, they each won $10; if two contestants were successful, they received $20; if one contestant was successful, that contestant received $30. Bert Newton
Albert Watson Newton (23 July 1938 – 30 October 2021) was an Australian media personality. He was a Logie Hall of Fame inductee, quadruple Gold Logie award-winning entertainer and radio, theatre and television personality and presenter. Newton hosted the Logie Awards ceremony on 19 occasions. Newton was known for his collaborations opposite Graham Kennedy and subsequently Don Lane on their respective variety shows as well as appearances with his wife, singer Patti Newton. Their two children are actor Matthew Newton and TV personality Lauren Newton. Newton started his career in radio broadcasting, primarily as an announcer before becoming a star and fixture of Australian television since its inception in 1956, and was considered both an industry pioneer, icon and one of the longest-serving television performers in the world. Pyramid (Australian Game Show)
''Pyramid'' is an Australian children's quiz show screening on the Nine Network from 2009-2015 hosted by Shura Taft. It is co-produced by Sony Pictures Television (the owner of the franchise) and produced by Sydney-based Ambience Entertainment (a production arm of Omnilab Media). It began broadcasting on 1 September 2009 and is filmed in front of a live studio audience. It involves two teams competing in games of "vocal charades". The show is based on the 1979 United States game show '' The Junior Partner Pyramid'', a children's variant of the Sony Pictures Television ''Pyramid'' franchise.
