The Capital Region (Denmark)
The Capital Region ( da, Hovedstadsregionen, ) was the administrative name of the municipalities of Copenhagen and Frederiksberg and the counties of Frederiksborg, Copenhagen, and Roskilde. It was replaced by the Capital Region of Denmark ( da, Region Hovedstaden) as an administrative region on January 1, 2007 as part of the 2007 Danish Municipal Reform. The new region includes the island of Bornholm (in the Baltic Sea 100 nautical miles from Copenhagen), and excludes the southwestern parts of Greater Copenhagen that were covered by Roskilde County. These southwestern areas are instead included in Region Zealand ( da, Region Sjælland). Municipalities Of Denmark
Denmark is divided into five regions of Denmark, regions, which contain 98 municipalities ( da, kommuner , sing.: ). The Capital Region of Denmark, Capital Region has 29 municipalities, Region of Southern Denmark, Southern Denmark 22, Central Denmark Region, Central Denmark 19, Region Zealand, Zealand 17 and North Denmark Region, North Denmark 11. Copenhagen Municipality
Copenhagen Municipality ( da, Københavns Kommune), also known in English as the Municipality of Copenhagen, located in the Capital Region of Denmark, is the largest of the four municipalities that constitute the City of Copenhagen (), the other three being Dragør, Frederiksberg, and Tårnby. The Municipality of Copenhagen constitutes the historical city centre and the majority of its landmarks. It is the most populous in the country with a population of 652,564 inhabitants (), and covers in area,. Copenhagen Municipality is located at the Zealand and Amager islands and totally surrounds Frederiksberg Municipality on all sides. The strait of Øresund lies to the east. Frederiksberg Municipality
Frederiksberg Kommune is a Municipalities of Denmark, municipality (Danish language, Danish, ''Commune (subnational entity), kommune'') on the island of Zealand (Denmark), Zealand (''Sjælland'') in Denmark. Part of the Capital Region of Denmark and the city of Copenhagen, it is surrounded by Copenhagen Municipality. Counties Of Denmark
The Counties of Denmark ( da, Danmarks amter) were former subdivisions of metropolitan Denmark and overseas territories, used primarily for administrative regions, with each county having its own council with substantial powers. Originally there had been twenty-four counties, but the number was reduced to roughly fourteen in 1970 – the number fluctuated slightly over the next three decades. In 2006 there were thirteen traditional counties as well as three municipalities with county status (the island of Bornholm, which was a county from 1660 until 2002, became a ''regional municipality'' with county powers, but only briefly from 2003 until 2006). Københavns Amt () is a former county (Danish, ''Amt (subnational entity), amt'') on the island of Zealand (Denmark), Zealand (''Sjælland'') in eastern Denmark. Roskilde County
Roskilde Amt () is a former county () on the island of Zealand (''Sjælland'') in eastern Denmark. The county was abolished effective January 1, 2007, when it merged into Region Sjælland (i.e. ''Region Zealand''). Roskilde is also the name of the county's capital, and the name of a municipality (). The small city of Roskilde is located 30 km west of Copenhagen. Danish kings were traditionally crowned there, in the Roskilde Cathedral. Roskilde is also home to the Viking Ship Museum, an "alternative" university, and the popular Roskilde Festival, annual music festival. Capital Region Of Denmark
The Capital Region of Denmark ( da, Region Hovedstaden, ) is the easternmost administrative region of Denmark. The Capital Region has 29 municipalities and a regional council consisting of 41 elected members. As of 1 August 2021 the chairperson is Lars Gaardhøj, who is a member of the Social Democrats party of Denmark. The Capital Region was established on 1 January 2007 as part of the 2007 Danish Municipal Reform. This reform abolished the traditional counties (Danish plural: , singular: ) and created five regions. As part of this reform 271 smaller municipalities were merged into larger units reducing the number of municipalities to 98. Region Zealand
Region Zealand ( da, Region Sjælland) is the southernmost administrative region of Denmark, established on 1 January 2007 as part of the 2007 Danish Municipal Reform, which abolished the traditional counties ("amter") and set up five larger regions. Zealand Region has 17 municipalities. Geography Zealand Region consists of the former counties of Roskilde, Storstrøm, and Vestsjælland. The region is named after the island of Sjælland (Zealand), which it shares with the neighbouring Danish Capital Region. Copenhagen Zoo
Copenhagen Zoo ( da, København Zoo) is a zoological garden in Copenhagen, Denmark. Founded in 1859, it is one of the oldest zoos in Europe and is a member of EAZA. It comprises and is located in the municipality of Frederiksberg, sandwiched between the parks of Frederiksberg Gardens and Søndermarken. With 1,571,331 visitors in 2019 it is the most visited zoo and one of the most visited attractions in Denmark. Stevns Municipality
Stevns is a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in Region Sjælland on the southeast coast of the island of Zealand (''Sjælland'') in south Denmark. The municipality covers an area of , and has a population of 22,782 (1 January 2019). The municipality covers most of Stevns Peninsula. The third largest town and the site of its municipal council is the town of Hårlev. DSB (railway Company)
DSB, an abbreviation of ''Danske Statsbaner'' (, ''Danish State Railways''), is the largest Danish train operating company, and the largest in Scandinavia. While DSB is responsible for passenger train operation on most of the Danish railways, goods transport and railway maintenance are outside its scope. DSB runs a commuter rail system, called the S-train, in the area around the Danish capital, Copenhagen, that connects the different areas and suburbs in the greater metropolitan area.
