David Kirkland
David Kirkland (1878–1964) was an American actor and film director of the silent and early sound eras. He was cast as Dr. Dopem in the Snakeville comedy series and directed several Keystone Studios comedy films. He was a pallbearer at Virginia Rappe's funeral. Kirkland's 1920 film ''The Perfect Woman'' was preserved by the Academy Film Archive in 2017. Roy Stewart (October 17, 1883 – April 26, 1933) was an American actor of the silent era. He appeared in more than 130 films between 1915 and 1933. He was born in San Diego, California. On April 26, 1933, he died at his Westwood, California, home, of a heart attack. He was 49 years old. Paul Panzer
Paul Wolfgang Panzerbeiter (November 3, 1872 – August 16, 1958), known professionally as Paul Panzer, was a German-American silent film actor. He appeared in more than 330 films between 1905 and 1952. Biography Panzer was born in Würzburg.Bavaria. His education included studying pharmacy at the University of Wurzburg and studying vocal music at the Conservatory of Wurzburg. He was a lieutenant in German's artillery reserves when he left there. Panzer's early work building sets and painting scenes for a New York City film studio developed his interest in the film industry. He also was involved with live theater, working for Augustin Daly both on stage and as stage manager. Panzer was best known for playing Koerner / Raymond Owen in '' The Perils of Pauline''. Charlotte Merriam
Charlotte Merriam (April 5, 1903 – July 10, 1972) was an American motion picture actress. Career Bessie Charlotte Merriam was the daughter of army colonel Henry Clay Merriam (1879-1955) and born in Fort Sheridan, Illinois. Her film career began in 1919 at the age of 16 with a role in ''The Flip of a Coin''. While visiting Universal Pictures that year, she was offered a part in a comedy series starring Eddie Lyons and Leo Moran, possibly to replace their female regular, Betty Compson, who graduated to features. Merriam accepted. Afterward, she played leads in one- and two-reel comedies, and appeared in important parts in longer features. She performed with Colleen Moore in ''The Nth Commandment'' (1923) and was the female lead in '' The Brass Bottle'' (1923), directed by Maurice Tourneur. Harry Woods (actor)
Harry Lewis Woods (May 5, 1889 – December 28, 1968) was an American film actor. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Woods was a millinery salesman prior to becoming an actor. He appeared in nearly 250 films between 1923 and 1958. During his 35-year film career he acquired a reputation as a screen villain ''par excellence''; his imposing size, powerful build, piercing eyes and snarling voice typed him as a bad guy to be reckoned with. He seldom played ordinary henchmen, usually cast as both the brains (the banker or saloon owner who secretly runs the bandit gang terrorizing the area) and the brawn behind the local villainy. He was well respected by his peers. Another prime screen villain, Roy Barcroft, once said of him, "Everything I know about being a bad guy I learned from Harry Woods." He enjoyed a long career in films before retiring in 1958, and he died in Los Angeles ten years later from uremia. Rex Lease
Rex Lloyd Lease (February 11, 1903 – January 3, 1966) was an American actor. He appeared in over 300 films, mainly in Poverty Row westerns. Biography Lease arrived in Hollywood in 1924. He found bit and supporting parts at Film Booking Office (FBO), Rayart, more, and was given the opportunity to play a few leads. His first film was ''A Woman Who Sinned'' (FBO, 1924). Lease's earliest westerns were a pair of Tim McCoy silents at MGM, one of which was ''The Law of the Range'' (MGM, 1928) which had a young Joan Crawford as the heroine and Lease as the Solitaire Kid. McCoy and Lease became friends, and over the next dozen or so years, he appeared in seven more McCoy westerns. He had a featured role in director Frank Capra's ''The Younger Generation'' (Columbia, 1929), a tale of a Jewish family that moves to a more up-scale neighborhood. He successfully made the transition to talkies, and starred in melodramas, action flicks, old dark house mysteries, and comedies as well as ...
