	The Call Of Africa ''The Call of Africa'' (Spanish: ''La llamada de África'') is a 1952 Spanish war film directed by César Fernández Ardavín and starring Irma Torres, Ángel Picazo and Gérard Tichy. It is set in 1940 in Spanish Morocco. It was made at a time when Spain's dictator General Franco was trying to forge a closer relationship with the Arab states of the Middle East and the film promotes a concept of the "blood brotherhood" that links the Spanish and Moroccans.Passerini, Labanyi & Diehl p.132 Synopsis German agents operating out of Vichy-controlled Mauritania attempt to sabotage a strategic Spanish airstrip. 	César Fernández Ardavín César Fernández Ardavín (22 July 1923 – 7 September 2012) was a Spanish film director and screenwriter. He directed more than 40 films between 1952 and 1979. His 1959 film ''El Lazarillo de Tormes'' won the Golden Bear at the 10th Berlin International Film Festival. His 1969 film ''The Wanton of Spain'' was entered into the 6th Moscow International Film Festival. He was the nephew of the director Eusebio Fernández Ardavín and began his career working for him.
