The Cakemaker
''The Cakemaker'' ( he, האופה מברלין, translit=haOfeh miBerlin; german: Der Kuchenmacher) is a 2017 romantic drama film directed by Ofir Raul Grazier. It stars Sarah Adler, Tim Kalkhof, Zohar Strauss and Roy Miller. It premiered at the 52nd Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. It was part of the Official Selection – Competition and won the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury. It received the 2018 Ophir Award for best picture, and was selected as the Israeli entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 91st Academy Awards, but it was not nominated. Plot Thomas, a young, solitary German baker, is having an affair with a married Israeli man named Oren, who frequently visits Berlin on business. When Oren fails to return Thomas's calls one day, Thomas discovers that he died in an accident in Israel, and he goes to Jerusalem and visits the cafe of Oren's widow, Anat. Without revealing his identity, he gets a job in the cafe's kitchen and rents an apartment in the city ...

Ofir Raul Graizer
Ofir Raul Graizer ( he, אופיר ראול גרייצר; born September 10, 1981) is an Israeli film director, screenwriter, producer and editor. Graizer was born in Israel. He lives in Berlin. He is best known for his feature film debut, ''The Cakemaker''. It was the Israeli submission for the Academy Award in 2019, won seven Ophir Awards in 2018 at the Israeli Academy, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Script and Best Actress. Graizer published a book of short stories and recipes, Ofirs Kuche (Ofir's Kitchen), in Germany in November 2018. He lives between Israel, Germany and the United States, and works internationally. The movie, inspired by Graizer's own experiences and those of a friend, is a love story and includes issues surrounding being gay. Graizer is himself gay.
