''The Cage'' is the fourth album by British heavy metal band Tygers of Pan Tang, released on MCA Records in 1982. It marked a move in a more commercial direction, selling over 200,000 copies and giving birth to two top 50 songs in the UK, namely the covers of Leiber & Stoller's "Love Potion No. 9" and the lesser known RPM song "Rendezvous". Another single charted at 63: the Steve Thompson song "Paris by Air". It is shortly after producing this album that the band split for the first time, due to tensions with their record company. Robb Weir and Brian Dick then formed the band Sergeant. Tygers Of Pan Tang
Tygers of Pan Tang are an English heavy metal band who are part of the new wave of British heavy metal movement. They formed in 1978 in Whitley Bay, England, and were active until 1987. The band reformed in 1999 and continue to record and perform. The name is derived from Pan Tang, a fictional archipelago in Michael Moorcock's Elric of Melniboné fantasy series whose wizards keep tigers as pets. Biography Early days, 1978–1983 The Tygers of Pan Tang were formed by guitarist Robb Weir (born Robert Mortimer Weir, 1958), Richard "Rocky" Laws (bass), Jess Cox (vocals) and Brian Dick (drums). Philip James Harding (born 1957) is an English Record producer, music producer, Audio engineering, audio engineer, remixer, academic and author. Harding started in the music industry aged 16 at London's Marquee Studios in 1973, where he got to work as an assistant engineer under the guidance of top producers on albums for artists such as Elton John, Kiki Dee and Barry Blue. As Harding's career progressed, a long list of credits began to accumulate, with artists as diverse as The Clash, Killing Joke, Toyah Willcox, Amii Stewart and Matt Bianco, all taking advantage of Harding's fast-growing reputation as a top engineer. John Sykes
John James Sykes (born 29 July 1959) is an English guitarist, best known as a member of Whitesnake, Thin Lizzy and Tygers of Pan Tang. He has also fronted the hard rock group Blue Murder and released several solo albums. Following a stint in the heavy metal band Tygers of Pan Tang in the early 1980s, Sykes joined Irish hard rock group Thin Lizzy for their 1983 album '' Thunder and Lightning''. He then joined Whitesnake, with whom he recorded the multi-platinum selling 1987 album. However, Sykes was let go from the band before the record's release under acrimonious circumstances, which led to him forming his own group Blue Murder. After two albums and a live record, he embarked on a solo career.
