The Butthole Surfers
Butthole Surfers are an American rock band formed in San Antonio, Texas, by singer Gibby Haynes and guitarist Paul Leary in 1981. The band has had numerous personnel changes, but its core lineup of Haynes, Leary, and drummer King Coffey has been consistent since 1983. Teresa Nervosa served as second drummer from 1983 to 1985, 1986 to 1989, and 2009. The Fillmore
The Fillmore is a historic music venue in San Francisco, California. Built in 1912 and originally named the Majestic Hall, it became the Fillmore Auditorium in 1954. It is in Western Addition, on the edge of the Fillmore District and Upper Fillmore neighborhood. History The building which became The Fillmore was built in 1912 and initially housed the Majestic Hall and Academy of Dancing. Its name was changed from the Majestic Hall in 1936 to the Ambassador Dance Hall. From 1939 to 1952, it operated as the Ambassador Roller Skating Rink. In 1954, Charles Sullivan, one of the most successful African-American businessmen in San Francisco at the time, started booking bands and renamed the venue The Fillmore Auditorium. Teresa Taylor (born November 10, 1962), also known as Teresa Nervosa, is an American musician and actress. She is best known as being a drummer for the American punk band Butthole Surfers. King Coffey
King Coffey (born Jeffrey Coffey; 1964) is an American drummer, known for being the drummer of the psychedelic/noise rock band Butthole Surfers. He began drumming in a Fort Worth hardcore punk band called The Hugh Beaumont Experience in high school. Around that same time, he also published a fanzine called ''Throbbing Cattle''. He saw the Butthole Surfers for the first time in 1982 at a time when Scott Matthews was their drummer. Coffey replaced him in 1983 and is still the band's official drummer. In 1990, Coffey founded the independent record label Trance Syndicate, and released records by primarily Texas-based artists, including his band Drain. In 1995, he co-founded the Emperor Jones record label with his husband Craig Stewart. Paul Leary Walthall (born May 7, 1957), known as Paul Leary, is an American musician and music producer from Austin, Texas, best known as the lead guitarist and occasional lead vocalist for the American rock band Butthole Surfers. He is also the producer of a number of songs and albums by other bands, including U2, Sublime, Meat Puppets, Daniel Johnston, The Reverend Horton Heat, Pepper, Maggie Walters, Bad Livers, Slightly Stoopid, The Refreshments, Tumbledryer Babies, and Sludge Buzzard. Leary produced Sublime with Rome's debut album, '' Yours Truly''. In 1991, Leary released a solo album entitled ''The History of Dogs''. Gibson Jerome Haynes (born September 30, 1957) is an American musician, radio personality, painter, author and the lead singer of the band Butthole Surfers. Early life and career Born and raised in Dallas, Texas, Gibby Haynes is the son of actor Jerry Haynes, best known as Dallas-based children's TV host " Mr. Peppermint", and Doris Haynes. His uncle was decorated U.S. Marines Corps major general Fred E. Haynes Jr. Haynes attended Trinity University to study accounting. After graduating, he went to work as an auditor for the accounting firm Peat Marwick. Melvins (sometimes The Melvins) are an American rock band formed in 1983 in Montesano, Washington. Their early work was key to the development of both grunge and sludge metal. Initially, they performed as a trio but later also sometimes appeared as a quartet, with either two drummers or two bassists. Since 1984, vocalist and guitarist Buzz Osborne and drummer Dale Crover have been constant members. The Hugh Beaumont Experience
The Hugh Beaumont Experience was a punk rock band from Fort Worth, Texas. The band's original lineup was Brad Stiles on vocals, Tommie Duncan on guitar, Clay Carlisle on bass, and Carter Kolba on drums. Formed in 1980 by members of the private school, Fort Worth Country Day School, in Fort Worth, they toured throughout Texas in 1981-82, including dates with MDC and The Dead Kennedys. Their nascent success was short-lived, however; the band had broken up by 1983, having released just one 7-inch called ''Cone Johnson EP'' (now a collector's item) and a cassette called ''Virgin Killers''.
