''The Bunker'' is a comic book written by Joshua Hale Fialkov with artwork by Joe Infurnari. A pilot television episode was announced to have been written for Lionsgate TV. In 2019, it was reported that a television series is in the works at NBC. Plot The world population is dying, and those responsible send a bunker back in time to warn their younger selves, in order to prevent it. Reception It was highly recommended by Ain't It Cool News. Newsarama gave it a 9 out of 10. Bleeding Cool called it “A beautiful comic.” Comic Vine gave it 5 stars. Oni Press is an American independent comic book and graphic novel publisher based in Portland, Oregon. In 2019, it became an imprint label following the company's merger with Lion Forge Comics. The merged company, Oni–Lion Forge Publishing Group (OLFPG), is owned by Polarity. Oni Press has remained the "predominant name used for publishing comics" by OLFPG. Overview The company name derives from ''oni'', the word for the ogre demons popular in Japanese folklore. Oni Press used the term "real mainstream," coined by Stephen Holland of the UK comic shop Page 45, to suggest that the subject matter it publishes is more in line with the popular genres of other media, such as thrillers, romances and realistic drama. Joshua Hale Fialkov
Joshua Hale Fialkov (born August 19, 1979) is an American comic book writer who primarily works in the horror genre. He is best known for '' Echoes'', '' The Bunker'', '' Elk's Run'', '' I, Vampire'', and the 2008 film '' Infected''. He has been nominated for multiple Harvey Awards. Early life Fialkov was born in Sacramento, California, on 19 August 1979, but raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He attended college at Emerson in Boston, Massachusetts, where he received a B.F.A. in writing and directing. After working in film in Boston, he moved to Los Angeles in 2001. Ain't It Cool News (AICN) is an entertainment news website founded by Harry Knowles and run by his sister Dannie Knowles since September 2017, dedicated to news, rumors, and reviews of upcoming and current films, television, and comic book projects, with an emphasis on science fiction, superhero, fantasy, horror, and action genres. History Ain't It Cool News was launched in 1996, and its name is attributed to a quote from John Travolta's character in the film '' Broken Arrow''. Knowles began surfing the internet while recovering from a debilitating accident in 1994. Newsarama is an American website that publishes news, interviews, and essays about the American comic book industry. It is owned by Future US. In June 2020, Newsarama was merged with the website GamesRadar+, also owned by FutureUS. History Newsarama began in mid-1995 as a series of Internet forum postings on the Prodigy comic book message boards by fan Mike Doran. In the forum postings, Doran shared comic book-related news items he had found across the World Wide Web and, as these postings became more regular and read widely, he gave them the title "Prodigy Comic Book Newswire." Avatar Press also publishes an associated magazine, ''Bleeding Cool''. Content Among Bleeding Cool's features are a power list detailing the most influential people in the comics industry. In 2012, Bleeding Cool covered sexual harassment accusations leveled against DC Comics editor Eddie Berganza, beginning with an incident at WonderCon in Anaheim, California. Though that initial article was a blind item that did not name the victim or accused, four years later, Bleeding Cool named Berganza when it accused him of sexual harassment, and detailed how he had risen in the ranks at DC even after the accusations became known to his employers. The name "Whiskey Media" is a reference to a Kentucky distillery that was owned by the family of Shelby Bonnie before prohibition.
