The Bugs Bunny Mystery Special
''The Bugs Bunny Mystery Special'' is an animated television special that was broadcast on CBS October 26, 1980. Presented by Porky Pig as an Alfred Hitchcock-style whodunit, the plot is modeled after those of ''North by Northwest'' and '' The Fugitive''. Like most '' Looney Tunes'' specials of the time, this program consists of clips from classic cartoons with some new original animation holding them together. Plot synopsis A criminal known as the Tall, Dark Stranger robs a bank, and Inspector Elmer Fudd mistakenly arrests Bugs Bunny for the crime. Escaping from jail, Bugs sets out to prove his innocence while evading Elmer, who is searching for him after his escape. Soon word spreads about Bugs Bunny being a national fugitive. Gerry Chiniquy
Germain Adolph Chiniquy (pronounced "chin-a-KEE"; June 23, 1912 – November 22, 1989) was an American animator known for his work with Friz Freleng, at both Warner Bros. and DePatie-Freleng Enterprises. Chiniquy joined Freleng's animation team in the early 1940s. His work can best be seen in the many "dance numbers" that Freleng liked to use in his shorts. As crewmembers working on Golden Age Warner Brothers's cartoons were seldom credited, Chiniquy and the other animators would often add their names into the backgrounds of cartoons. Chiniquy's name can be seen in ''Bugs Bunny Rides Again'' (1948); look for "G. Chiniquy, Blacksmith" painted on a rooftop. Chiniquy also made a cameo appearance in the live action portion of ''You Ought to Be in Pictures'' (1940), as the director calling for "Quiet on the set!" After the original Warner Bros. Sylvester Pussycat, Sr. is a fictional character, an anthropomorphic Bicolor cat, tuxedo cat in the ''Looney Tunes'' and ''Merrie Melodies'' series of cartoons. ''Hare Lift'' is a 1952 Warner Bros. '' Looney Tunes'' short directed by Friz Freleng. The short was released on December 20, 1952, and stars Bugs Bunny and Yosemite Sam. The title is a play on the term "air lift," as expressed in the plotline. Plot A newspaper announces the test flight of the world's biggest airplane. The plane lands at an airport, its giant wheel covering Bugs Bunny's hole. Bugs struggles out and, impressed by the plane, decides to take a look inside. It features a forerunner of the Rocky and Mugsy duo. Plot Tweety, who is a rare and valuable bird, has been captured and held for ransom by a duo of criminals: Rocky and his assistant Nick. Sylvester, who is interested only in finding food to eat, makes a number of attempts to steal Tweety: *Sylvester climbs up the fire escape, then edges along a ledge to the apartment. ''Big House Bunny'' is a 1950 Warner Bros. ''Looney Tunes'' short directed by Friz Freleng. The cartoon was released on April 22, 1950, and stars Bugs Bunny and Yosemite Sam. Plot Needing to get away from hunters, Bugs digs a tunnel and accidentally winds up in Sing Song Prison (a clear reference to Sing Sing Prison; "No Hanging Around"). As he tries settling himself to his hiding spot, prison guard Yosemite Sam (here called Sam Schultz) beats Bugs with a billy club, telling him, "Trying to pull an escape, 777174, huh?" to which Bugs replies, "I'm not 777174 - I'm only 3½." Sam believes that, but he does not believe that Bugs is not a prisoner. ''Baby Buggy Bunny'' is a 1954 Warner Bros. ''Merrie Melodies'' animated short directed by Chuck Jones and written by Michael Maltese. The cartoon was released on December 18, 1954, and stars Bugs Bunny. The story is about a short gangster named "Babyface" Finster (based on gangster Baby Face Nelson) who, after a clever bank robbery, loses his ill-gotten gains down Bugs' rabbit hole, forcing him to don the disguise of an orphan baby to get it back. Plot Baby-Face Finster (a.k.a. Ant Hill Harry), a 35-year-old man who resembles a baby, makes a successful robbery of the Last National Bank by the swift use of stilts, dark clothes, a pram and baby clothing.
