The Brothers Chaps
Matthew "Matt" Alan Chapman (born November 1, 1976) and Michael "Mike" Raymond Chapman (born September 20, 1973), known collectively as The Brothers Chaps, are American writers, voice actors, directors, animators, producers and composers. They are best known as the creators of the animated series ''Homestar Runner''. Early life While Matt and Mike Chapman were born in Indiana, they grew up in Decatur, Georgia and later resided in Atlanta. Growing up in the 1980s, the Brothers Chaps were creating comic books, filming Super 8 movies and eventually toying with a video camera. Mike attended the University of Georgia and studied photography while Matt went to film school. Career Mike Chapman created the character of Homestar Runner in 1996 with friend Craig Zobel. The character debuted in the children's book ''The Homestar Runner Enters the Strongest Man in the World Contest,'' which was subsequently posted online as a series of images. Y-O-U
Y-O-U, also known as the Pleaserock collective, is a rock band from Atlanta, Georgia, probably most widely known for their collaborations with The Brothers Chaps on projects such as Strong Bad Sings and the karaoke music from strongbad email.exe, as well as for their spinoff group Yacht Rock Revue. In addition, the Chapmans animated a music video for Y-O-U's song "LA Lindsay." Originally from Indiana, the band relocated to Georgia in 2002. Their self-titled debut album was released in 2003. Their next LP, ''Flashlights'', was released on compact disc in January 2007; however, as a promotional tactic, the entire album is also available as a free download via the band's MySpace profile. Folk Implosion
The Folk Implosion is an American band founded in the early 1990s by Lou Barlow and John Davis. It was initially a side-project started by Barlow to explore different territory than that being canvassed with his primary band at the time, Sebadoh. The name is a play on the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. The band was on hiatus from 2004-2020. History Following the release of Sebadoh's ''Bubble and Scrape'' in 1993, Barlow received a tape from Davis, songwriter and librarian, that kicked off their collaboration as a songwriting team and studio recording project. "Heimdalsgate Like a Promethean Curse" was the first single released by Polyvinyl Records from Of Montreal's 2007 album '' Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer?''. Like the rest of the album, the song was written, performed and recorded by Kevin Barnes. "Heimdalsgate Like a Promethean Curse" was also released as a music video directed by The Brothers Chaps. The song opens up with a Roland Jupiter 8 bass into a lead made with a Sequential Circuits Prophet 5, along with A Linn Drum and an electric piano the quirky electronics give the song a 1985 feel. In an early review of the song, posted shortly after the leak of the album in September 2006, Pitchfork Media's Andy Dubbin describes it as "one of the more breakneck, 'old Of Montreal'-styled songs on an otherwise discofunk-lite album, bringing proper attention to itself without overextending its theme."
