The Bronswik Affair
''The Bronswik Affair'' (french: L'Affaire Bronswik) is a 1978 Canadian short film, directed by Robert Awad and André Leduc for the National Film Board of Canada. Summary An animated mockumentary, the film satirizes advertising and marketing through the story of Bronswik, a fictional manufacturer of television sets which feature special technology designed to disable viewers' ability to resist advertising pitches, spawning a frenzied addiction to consumerism which leads to a political and social crisis. René Jodoin
René Jodoin (30 December 1920 – 22 January 2015) was an animation director and producer who founded the French-language animation studio of the National Film Board of Canada. Born in Hull, Quebec on December 30, 1920, Jodoin died in Montreal on January 22, 2015 at the age of 94. Joining the NFB Jodoin was invited by animation pioneer Norman McLaren to join the NFB in 1943. He worked in the NFB's original animation unit, then left the NFB in 1947. He returned to the Film Board in 1954, working in a variety of capacities, including as head of an NFB animation program producing films for the Department of National Defence and as head of NFB's Science Film Program. The Columbus International Film + Animation Festival is a Columbus, Ohio, United States annual film festival which is designed to encourage and promote the use of film and video in all forms of education and communication. It is the first and oldest film festival in the United States, having existed since 1952. The 2020 festival will be held April 17-18, 2020, in Columbus, OH at the Gateway Film Center. The present organization has been known as the Columbus International Film + Animation Festival since the 2018. As a competitive festival, it was formally known as 'The Chris Awards'.
