The Brass Action
The Brass Action was a Canadian six-piece independent band from Vancouver, British Columbia. The band played a unique style that mixes the intensity of punk rock and rockabilly with the dancy, horn driven sounds of ska. History The Brass Action formed in 2007 in Vancouver, BC, and have since released three independent full-length albums. The band's first album, entitled ''Making Waves'' (2013), was recorded over a three-year period and serves as a compilation of EP albums released during that time. The album was recorded and engineered by Paul Boechler at Fader Mountain Sound and Armoury Studios in Vancouver, BC. Mastering was done by Brock McFarlane at CPS Mastering. Two songs from their album ''Making Waves'' were featured in the 2014 film '' Horns'', starring Daniel Radcliffe. Railway Club
Railway Stage & Beer Café is Vancouver’s longest continually operating nightclub, occupying the same premises uninterrupted from 1931 to 2016. Three rooms made up the second floor space at the corner of Seymour and Dunsmuir Street. The first was a small room that hosted music seven nights a week. The Flaming Lips
The Flaming Lips are an American psychedelic rock band formed in 1983 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The Interrupters are an American ska punk band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 2011. The band comprises lead vocalist Aimee Interrupter, drummer Jesse Bivona, bassist Justin Bivona, and guitarist Kevin Bivona. They have released four studio albums. The Mad Caddies (or the Caddies) are a ska punk band from Solvang, California, United States. The band formed in 1995 and has released seven full-length albums, one live album, and two EPs. Los Furios
Los Furios is a nine-piece band from Vancouver, British Columbia which has performed across Western Canada since 2000. Los Furios began adding horns to the line-up in 2001 and have been evolving their blend of punk, ska, and reggae ever since. The band has variously featured a two- or three-piece horn section complemented by distinct songwriters and vocalists. This instrumentation adds to their diverse sound. Noticeable influences in their sound include acts such as The Clash, Sublime, Fishbone, and Rancid. The Dreadnoughts are a Canadian 6-piece folk-punk band from Vancouver. The band combines a wide range of European folk music with modern street punk. Big D and the Kids Table is a ska punk band formed in October 1995 in Boston, Massachusetts when its members converged in college. Their first release was on their own Fork in Hand Records label, but have since teamed with Springman Records and SideOneDummy. The band has been noted for its strict DIY work ethic, such as engineering, producing, and releasing their own albums and videos and self-promotion of their own shows.
