The Boys (1990 Album)
''The Boys'' is the eponymous second album from American R&B group Suns of Light (originally known as the Boys), released in via Motown Records. Although L.A. Reid and Babyface produced 3 songs on their debut album ''Messages from the Boys'', instead one song is produced by Daryl Simmons and Kayo, who were a part of the LaFace production and songwriting camp. Three singles were released from the album: "Crazy", "Thing Called Love" and "Thanx 4 the Funk". "Crazy" is the last song the group has released to date to reach #1 on the ''Billboard'' R&B chart, as well as the last song to date to chart on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100, peaking at #29. The album peaked at #108 on the ''Billboard'' 200. The Boys (American Band)
Suns of Light are an American R&B boy band, originally known as the Boys. Biography Originating from Carson, California, the Suns of Light are composed of brothers Khiry, Hakeem, Tajh and Bilal Abdulsamad. Their parents are Angela Satterwhite and Jabari Abdulsamad (formerly Brown). Their grandmother taught them singing, dancing, and acting. In the summer of 1984, ages 5 to 10 as "The Boys," the group began busking at the Venice Beach boardwalk. Their first single, "Dial My Heart" became a hit, charting at #1 and was soon followed by "Lucky Charm" which also reached #1 on the U.S. R&B chart. The album, produced by Babyface and L.A. Reid, was certified Platinum and peaked at #32 on the ''Billboard'' 200. Their fourth single "Crazy" became their third R&B #1 in the fall of 1990. Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums is a music chart published weekly by '' Billboard'' magazine that ranks R&B and hip hop albums based on sales in the United States and is compiled by Nielsen SoundScan. The chart debuted as Hot R&B LPs in the issue dated January 30, 1965 in an effort by the magazine to further expand into the field of rhythm and blues music. It then went through several name changes, being known as Soul LPs in the 1970s and Top Black Albums in the 1980s, before returning to the R&B identification in 1990 and affixing a hip hop designation in 1999 to reflect the latter's growing sales and relationship to R&B during the decade. Elliot Willensky
Elliot A. Willensky (August 6, 1943 – March 29, 2010) was an American composer, lyricist and music producer. He wrote Michael Jackson's first solo hit "Got to Be There" and the Jermaine Jackson/Whitney Houston duet "If You Say My Eyes Are Beautiful." Willensky composed the music for the 1999 off-Broadway musical ''Abby's Song'' and served as the music coordinator for the Tony Orlando and Dawn variety show on CBS. Biography He was born in Bayonne, New Jersey on August 6, 1943, to Raymond Willensky and Gertrude Berlin. He attended Bayonne High School and graduated from Boston University with a degree in biology. He undertook post-graduate studies at Boston University and the University of Massachusetts Amherst and worked as a research scientist of the National Institutes of Health. Kenneth Brian Edmonds (born April 10, 1959), better known by his stage name Babyface, is an American singer, songwriter, and record producer. He has written and produced over 26 number-one R&B hits throughout his career and has won 12 Grammy Awards. He was ranked number 20 on ''NME'' 50 of The Greatest Producers Ever list.
