''The Boxer'' (Spanish: ''El boxeador'') is a 1958 Mexican sports drama film directed by Gilberto Gazcón and starring Joaquín Cordero, Ariadna Welter and Arturo Martinez.Riera p.82 It was shot at the Estudios Churubusco in Mexico City. The film's sets were designed by Salvador Lozano Mena. Joaquín Cordero
Joaquín Cordero (; August 16, 1922 – February 19, 2013) was a Mexican actor of the cinema, theatre and telenovelas. Biography Shortly after his birth, Cordero's family moved to Mexico City, and in the following years he studied in a seminary and even considered becoming a priest, but eventually he decided to pursue a law career. After three years of law classes, against his family's wishes he decided to become an actor. He initially appeared in small roles but by his early fifties he was getting much larger roles. Eventually he became one of the most popular actors in Mexican cinema. Cordero also shown appeared in theatre and on television and in the latter medium in numerous telenovelas and winning numerous awards. His most recent telenovelas included '' La Madrastra'' and ''Destilando Amor''. Ismael Rodríguez
Ismael Rodríguez (October 19, 1917 – August 7, 2004) was a Mexican film director. Rodríguez rose to fame due to the movies he directed starring Pedro Infante, and directed many major stars, including Dolores del Río, María Félix, Toshiro Mifune, Jorge Negrete, Sara García, Luis Aguilar, Tito Guízar, Gloria Marín, Carmelita González, Antonio Aguilar, Columba Domínguez or Flor Silvestre. He directed the film '' Ánimas Trujano'' (1961) for which he was nominated for an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film. Rodríguez's most renowned international film is ''Tizoc'', in which Pedro Infante starred alongside María Félix. For this role, Infante won the Silver Bear for Best Actor at the 7th Berlin International Film Festival The 7th annual Berlin International Film Festival was held from 21 June to 2 July 1957. Freddy Fernández (actor)
Alfredo Jesús Fernández Sáenz (January 16, 1934 – May 10, 1995) was a Mexican film and television actor, nicknamed El Pichi. Fernández was born in Mexico City, the only son of Alfredo Fernández and Elisa Sáenz Rojas. As a youth, he joined the Children's Fine Arts Theatre Company of Fine Arts under the direction of Clementina Otero. The nickname "El Pichi" was given to Fernández by producer Luis Manrique during the making of the film '' Callejera'' in 1949. He received the Virginia Fábregas medal from National Association of Actors (ANDA) for his 25 year career and was nominated three times for an Ariel Award. His son is Alfredo Fernández ("El Pato"). He died on May 10, 1995, of esophageal cancer in Mexico City, aged 61. His remains were buried in Cozumel, Quintana Roo, his son's garden.
