''The Kingdoms of Thorn and Bone'' is the name of a fantasy novel series by Gregory Keyes, written between 2003 and 2008. Gregory Keyes (born April 11, 1963) is an American writer of science fiction and fantasy who has written both original and media-related novels under both the names J. Gregory Keyes and Greg Keyes. Early life Keyes was born in Meridian, Mississippi, as John Gregory Keyes. He received degrees in anthropology from Mississippi State University and the University of Georgia before becoming a full-time writer. Writing career He is famous for his tetralogy '' The Age of Unreason'', a steampunk/alchemical story featuring Benjamin Franklin and Isaac Newton. Stephen Youll (born 8 June 1965 in Hartlepool) is a British science fiction artist. He got his start in the genre when his work, done in conjunction with his twin brother Paul, was seen in 1987 at the 45th World Science Fiction Convention in Brighton, England. His first commission, a collaboration with Paul, was for the cover painting for ''Emerald Eyes'' by Daniel Keys Moran that was published by Bantam Books. The brothers continued to work together until Stephen moved to the United States.
