The Blue Dogs are a band formed in 1987 by Bobby Houck and Hank Futch, based in Charleston, South Carolina. Known for their American roots sound and interactive performances, the band has become a staple in southern live entertainment and the Americana scene. History Early years Having known each other since their cub scout days in their hometown of Florence, South Carolina, Houck and Futch started the Blue Dogs as an acoustic oriented act rooted in bluegrass and country covers while attending Davidson College and College of Charleston, respectively. While they played periodically during their college years, the band began getting a following after spending the summers of 1986 and 1987 at Pawleys Island / Myrtle Beach. Danielle Howle (born in Columbia, South Carolina) is an American singer-songwriter and music producer. Biography After releasing an early song on a Columbia, South Carolina music sampler in the late 1980s, Howle joined the Columbia-based band Lay Quiet Awhile, formed by brothers Dan and Phil Cook in 1989. Howle was the voice on their first full-length album, ''Delicate Wire'', released in 1993. When Lay Quiet Awhile disbanded, Howle embarked on a solo career, beginning with a live album recorded at the University of South Carolina's McKissick Museum. ''Live at McKissick Museum'' was the beginning of a busy period of songwriting and touring. Howle released two solo albums, ''About to Burst'' (1996) and ''Catalog'' (1999). Widespread Panic is an American rock band from Athens, Georgia. The current lineup includes guitarist/singer John Bell, bassist Dave Schools, drummer Duane Trucks, percussionist Domingo "Sunny" Ortiz, keyboardist John "JoJo" Hermann, and guitarist Jimmy Herring. The band's original guitarist and sometime songwriter, Michael Houser, died of pancreatic cancer in 2002, and the original drummer, Todd Nance, left in 2016 and died in 2020. Cravin' Melon is a rock band based out of Clemson, South Carolina, United States. The band is composed of Doug Jones (lead vocals, guitar), Jimbo Chapman (lead guitar, vocals), Rob Clay (bass, vocals), Gary Greene (drums, vocals), Chad Barger (keyboards, vocals).
