The Blood Gulch Chronicles
''Red vs. Blue'', often abbreviated as ''RvB'', is an American web series created by Burnie Burns with his production company Rooster Teeth. The show is based on the setting of the military science fiction first-person shooter series and media franchise ''Halo''. It is distributed through Rooster Teeth's website, as well as on DVD, Blu-ray, and formerly on the El Rey Network and Netflix. The series initially centers on two opposite teams fighting in an ostensible civil war—shown to actually be a live fire exercise for elite soldiers—in the middle of Blood Gulch, a desolate box canyon, in a parody of first-person shooter video games, military life, and science fiction films. Initially intended to be a short series of six to eight episodes, the project quickly and unexpectedly achieved significant popularity following its premiere on April 1, 2003. Burnie Burns
Michael Justin "Burnie" Burns (born January 18, 1973) is an American writer, actor, producer, comedian, host, and director previously based in Austin, Texas. He is a co-founder, former chief executive officer, and former chief creative officer of Rooster Teeth. He is noted for his contributions in machinima, a form of film-making that uses video game technology in its production, and also works with animation and live action. Burns is also known for his work in the hosting and podcasting field. In April 2003, Burns, along with several friends and co-workers, created the machinima series '' Red vs. Blue: The Blood Gulch Chronicles''. A web series (also known as a web show) is a series of scripted or non-scripted online videos, generally in episodic form, released on the Internet, which first emerged in the late 1990s and became more prominent in the early 2000s. A single instance of a web series program can be called an episode or a "webisode", however the term is not always used. In general, web series can be watched on a range of platforms and devices, including desktop, laptop, tablets and smartphones. They are different from streaming television, which can be watched on various streaming platforms. Bungie, Inc. is an American video game company based in Bellevue, Washington. It is a studio owned by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Voice-over (also known as off-camera or off-stage commentary) is a production technique where a voice—that is not part of the narrative (non-Diegetic#Film sound and music, diegetic)—is used in a radio, television production, filmmaking, theatre, or other presentations. The voice-over is read from a script and may be spoken by someone who appears elsewhere in the production or by a specialist voice actor. Synchronous dialogue, where the voice-over is narrating the action that is taking place at the same time, remains the most common technique in voice-overs. Neurotically Yours
''Neurotically Yours'' is an animated web series created by Jonathan Ian Mathers, based on the comic of the same name, starring a goth girl named Germaine Endez and her neurotic squirrel roommate, Foamy. Since its inception, the series has received mainly positive reviews from fans for its dark humor. History The comic book series was created first. It focused solely on Germaine; Foamy only made random comments about the current situation. Germaine's design was noticeably based on Devi D's design from Jhonen Vasquez's comic I Feel Sick, and Mathers admitted she was a source of inspiration. The webseries debuted in late 2001. It started with this same set-up, but over the years Germaine's character took a back seat as Foamy developed into an angry, "wisdom-spreading" cult leader and his rants against society became increasingly popular. ''Homestar Runner'' is an American Flash animated comedy web series and website created by Mike and Matt Chapman, known collectively as The Brothers Chaps. The series centers on the adventures of a large and diverse cast of characters, headed by the lovable yet dense athlete Homestar Runner. It uses a blend of surreal humour, self-parody, and references to popular culture, in particular video games, classic television, and popular music. Homestar Runner originated in 1996 as a parody children's book by Mike Chapman and Craig Zobel. Blood Gulch is a multiplayer Level (video gaming), map in the first-person shooter ''Halo (series), Halo'' video game series.
