The Bletchley Circle
''The Bletchley Circle'' is a television mystery drama series, set in 1952–53, about four women who worked as codebreakers at Bletchley Park. Dissatisfied with the officials' failure to investigate complex crimes, the women join to investigate for themselves. The first series of the miniseries, produced for ITV, was originally shown in the UK in 2012 and premiered in the U.S. in April 2013, on PBS. A second series was broadcast on ITV in January 2014 and on PBS in April 2014. Both series were later aired by Australia's ABC TV. The series was distributed worldwide by Kew Media. The programme was not renewed for a third series. However, in 2018, a spinoff series titled '' The Bletchley Circle: San Francisco'' was announced by ITV and BritBox. Guy Burt
Guy Burt (born 14 July 1972) is an English author and BAFTA award-winning screenwriter who has worked on series such as ''The Borgias'', and ''Wire in the Blood'' and is currently working on adapting the ''Alex Rider'' TV series. Early life Burt wrote his first novel during his gap year from school, when he was 18. He read English literature at Oxford University and eventually became a teacher, although he left after five years so he could pursue full-time writing. Career Burt wrote his debut novel, ''After the Hole'' in (1993), a psychological horror story about a group of private school students trapped in an underground bunker, seemingly locked in by a deranged, sociopathic classmate. ITV1 HD is a British free-to-air high-definition public broadcast television network operated by ITV plc, the company which is contracted to provide 13 ITV1 services across the UK. Broadcasters' Audience Research Board
The Broadcasters Audience Research Board (BARB) is a British organisation that compiles audience measurement and television ratings in the United Kingdom. It was created in 1981 to replace two previous systems whereby ITV ratings were compiled by JICTAR (Joint Industry Committee for Television Audience Research), whilst the BBC did their own audience research. BARB is jointly owned by the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, Sky and the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising. Participating viewers have a box on top of their TV sets which tracks the programmes they watch. Business Currently, BARB have approximately 5,100 homes (equating to approximately 12,000 individuals) participating in the panel. Special Operations Executive
The Special Operations Executive (SOE) was a secret British World War II organisation. It was officially formed on 22 July 1940 under Minister of Economic Warfare Hugh Dalton, from the amalgamation of three existing secret organisations. Its purpose was to conduct espionage, sabotage and reconnaissance in occupied Europe (and later, also in occupied Southeast Asia) against the Axis powers, and to aid local resistance movements. Mark Lee Dexter (born 21 April 1973) is an English actor who trained at RADA. Life and career Dexter was born in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England. As a teenager, he was an early member of the Central Junior Television Workshop which led to various TV roles before he moved from Nottingham to London to attend RADA.
