The Black Gestapo
''The Black Gestapo'' (also released as ''Ghetto Warriors'') is a 1975 American crime film about a vigilante named General Ahmed, who starts an inner-city "People's Army" to protect the black citizens of Watts. However, when the Army succeeds in chasing the mob out of town, Ahmed is replaced by his colleague Colonel Kojah, who reforms the movement into a National Socialist criminal organization in order to have complete control over the town. It was written and directed by Lee Frost, and stars Rod Perry, Charles P. Robinson, Phil Hoover, Ed Cross and features a cameo from Russ Meyer regular Uschi Digard. Lee Frost (director)
Lee Frost was a film director, producer, cinematographer, editor and occasional actor. He directed a string of exploitation movies including ''Love Camp 7'', ''Chain Gang Women'', ''Chrome and Hot Leather'', ''The Thing with Two Heads'', ''The Black Gestapo'', ''Dixie Dynamite'' and '' Private Obsession''. Background Frost was born in Globe, Arizona, on August 14, 1935. He grew up in Glendale, California, and also in Oahu, Hawaii. The different names he used for his work were R.L. Frost, R. Lee Frost and David Kayne. Other names or variants used were David Kane, F.C. Perl, Elov Peterssons and Les Emerson. Carl Borch, Leoni Valentino and Robert L. Frost are more names. Gestapo
The (), abbreviated Gestapo (; ), was the official secret police of Nazi Germany and in German-occupied Europe. The force was created by Hermann Göring in 1933 by combining the various political police agencies of Prussia into one organisation. On 20 April 1934, oversight of the Gestapo passed to the head of the ''Schutzstaffel'' (SS), Heinrich Himmler, who was also appointed Chief of German Police by Hitler in 1936. Instead of being exclusively a Prussian state agency, the Gestapo became a national one as a sub-office of the (SiPo; Security Police). Blaxploitation Films
Blaxploitation is an ethnic subgenre of the exploitation film that emerged in the United States during the early 1970s. The term, a portmanteau of the words "black" and "exploitation", was coined in August 1972 by Junius Griffin, the president of the Beverly Hills-Hollywood NAACP branch. He claimed the genre was "proliferating offenses" to the black community in its perpetuation of stereotypical characters often involved in crime. The genre does rank among the first after the race films in the 1940s and 1960s in which black characters and communities are the protagonists and subjects of film and television, rather than sidekicks, antagonists or victims of brutality. The genre's inception coincides with the rethinking of race relations in the 1970s.
