The Bisserov Sisters
The Bisserov Sisters are a Bulgarian musical trio that performs folk songs mainly from the . They were born in the village of Pirin, Sandanski Municipality, Blagoevgrad Province. Career Sisters Lyubimka, Neda and Mitra made their official debut in 1978 at the XI World Festival in Cuba, where they won first prize in the competition. From 1978 onwards, the Bissarov Sisters began active concert activities in Bulgaria and around the world. Their first album was released in 1978, recorded in the recording studio Balkanton. In 1980, Lyubimka and Mitra were accepted through a competition at the Philip Kutev State Pedagogical University, personally selected by its founder Philip Kutev. At the same time, Neda sang in the , and later joined the DANPT. In 1996, the Bissarov Sisters officially expanded the trio to include their children in stage performances. Todor Kavaldjiev
Todor Kolev Kavaldzhiev ( bg, Тодор Колев Кавалджиев; 26 January 1934 – 6 February 2019) was Vice President of Bulgaria from 1997 until 2002. He was a partner to Petar Stoyanov, the 2nd President of Bulgaria. He was proven to be an anti-communist, due to being repressed during the communist era in Bulgaria. He was also an activist into restoring the BZNS Nikola Petkov. Early life Todor Kavaldzhiev was born in Glavan, Tsardom of Bulgaria in 26 January 1934. He was a pro-BZNS activist during his teens, as he vowed to restore the Agrarian Youth Wing, which failed due to his arrest and imprisonment in 1952. He was first sent to the prison in Haskovo, then he spent 11 years in Pazardzhik and Stara Zagora. He was sent to Belene labour camp twice, where harsh labour was implemented. Rising Appalachia is an American Appalachian folk music group led by multi-instrumentalist sisters Leah Song and Chloe Smith. Leah also performs as a solo artist. Based between Atlanta, New Orleans, and the Asheville area of North Carolina, the sisters work with an array of international musicians and the band incorporates everything from simple harmonics with banjos and fiddles, to a wide variety of drums, kalimbas, beatbox, djembe, balafon, congas, didgeridoo, tablas, spoons and washboard creating a full mix of world, folk and soul music. Balkanton
Balkanton ( bg, Балкантон) was a state-owned record manufacturing company in Bulgaria founded in 1952. Many of the produced records were, or still are available in the countries of the former Soviet Bloc. Balkanton's plant in Sofia was equipped for all aspects of record manufacturing from recording the masters and pressing the vinyl records to printing the cover. Multi-channel sound recording was introduced in 1972 with equipment purchased from England. In 1982 Balkanton received its own digital recording equipment. By the mid-1980s annual LP production reached 9 million units. The company mainly produced LPs and from 1980 it started to manufacture cassettes.
