The Big Operator (1976 Film)
''The Big Operator'' (french: Le Grand escogriffe) is a 1976 French comedy film directed by Claude Pinoteau and starring Yves Montand. Plot The aging villain Émile Morland talks his old friend Aristide into helping him with to kidnap the son of a millionaire. Moreover, Morland engages the young actress Amandine and borrows a child baptised Alberto from his acquaintance Tony. Morland's plan is to exchange the children and then to reveal this in order to retrieve ransom from millionaire Rifai. But to everybody's surprise Rifai prefers Alberto to his moody and wearisome own son. He refuses to pay ransom because he is now happy as it is. Claude Pinoteau (25 May 1925 – 5 October 2012) was a French film director and scriptwriter. Born in Boulogne-Billancourt, Hauts de Seine, Île-de-France, France. He died in Neuilly-sur-Seine, aged 87. Valentina Cortese
Valentina Cortese (1 January 1923 – 10 July 2019) was an Italian actress. She was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in François Truffaut's ''Day for Night'' (1973). Personal life Cortese was born in Milan to a family from Stresa, Piedmont. In 1940, she met conductor Victor de Sabata, who was 31 years older and married with children. She left high school to follow him to Rome, and there she graduated from the Academy of Dramatic Art. They separated in 1948. Cortese married Richard Basehart, her co-star in ''The House on Telegraph Hill'', in 1951, and had one son with him, the actor Jackie Basehart; they divorced in 1960. She never remarried. Jackie Basehart died in Milan in 2015, predeceasing Cortese. Cortese died on 10 July 2019, aged 96. Gianni Cavina (9 December 1940 – 26 March 2022) was an Italian film actor. He appeared in more than 40 films from 1968 to 2022. Born in Bologna, Cavina trained as a stage actor at the Teatro Stabile di Bologna, under the direction of Franco Parenti. He made his film debut in the 1968 horror ''Balsamus, l'uomo di Satana'', directed by Pupi Avati, with whom he had a long collaboration, starring in many of his films. Cavina died in his hometown Bologna on 26 March 2022, at the age of 81. Ely Galleani
Ely Galleani (born 24 April 1953), sometimes credited as Justine Gall and Ely Gall, is a retired Italian film actress. Born in Alassio as Federica Elisabetta De Galleani, daughter of an Italian count and of a Polish woman of Lithuanian origin, Galleani made her film debut in 1970 with a small role in ''Quella piccola differenza'' by Duccio Tessari, then appeared in a number of films with roles of more weight. Drug problems and a decline in Italian film production forced her to retire from acting in 1978. She moved on to a career as an accountant. She was the half-sister of actress Halina Zalewska, who accidentally died in 1976, at 36, in a fire. Galleani is also the ex-wife of Italian filmmaker Carlo Vanzina.
