The Big House (tournament)
The Big House is an annual ''Super Smash Bros.'' tournament series held in Michigan since 2011. It is considered one of the largest and most prestigious ''Smash Bros.'' tournament series alongside Genesis (tournament), GENESIS, Evolution Championship Series (EVO) and Super Smash Con. History 2011–2014 The first Big House tournament was held on October 22, 2011, on the University of Michigan campus in Ann Arbor, Michigan. 115 entrants participated in ''Super Smash Bros. Melee'' singles and the event was won by Oscar "Lovage" Nilsson. It was an Apex 2012 qualifier. The second tournament was held on October 6–7, 2012 on the campus of the University of Michigan. The ''Melee'' event was won by Joseph "Mango" Marquez. ''Project M'' was won by Brian "metroid1117" Lin. The Big House 3 was held from October 12–13, 2013 in Ann Arbor. Super Smash Bros
''Super Smash Bros.'' is a crossover fighting game series published by Nintendo. The series was created by Masahiro Sakurai, who has directed every game in the series. The series is known for its unique gameplay objective which differs from that of traditional fighters, in that the aim is to increase damage counters and knock opponents off the stage instead of depleting life bars. The original '' Super Smash Bros.'' was released in 1999 for the Nintendo 64. The series achieved even greater success with the release of '' Super Smash Bros. Samuel Robert Buzby (born August 7, 1993), also known as Dabuz, is an American professional '' Super Smash Bros.'' player. In ''Super Smash Bros. for Wii U'', he won several major tournaments and was ranked between 3rd and 6th best player in the world throughout the game's competitive history. In ''Super Smash Bros. Ultimate'', he was ranked 7th and 9th best for the first and second halves of 2019, respectively. Dabuz primarily used Olimar in ''Super Smash Bros. Brawl''. Justin McGrath, better known as Plup, is an American professional ''Super Smash Bros.'' player from Orlando, Florida. McGrath is considered to be one of the best ''Super Smash Bros. Melee'' players in the world, having been ranked as one of the top 10 ''Melee'' players every year since 2015. McGrath initially rose to prominence in 2015 after placing highly in several major tournaments. Among his best placings are first at GENESIS 5, second at The Big House 7 and Smash Summit 9, and third at EVO 2016 and EVO 2018. McGrath was initially the best Samus player in the world but later switched to primarily playing Sheik. In addition to playing Samus and Sheik, McGrath uses Fox as a secondary. Apex was an annual esports tournament held in New Jersey that was focused on '' Super Smash Bros.'' The event's first incarnation was in 2009 with Jesus "Jman" Fernandez as the champion of '' Super Smash Bros. Melee'' and Elliot "Ally" Carroza-Oyarce as champion of ''Super Smash Bros. Brawl''. Each year the event grew with more competitors entering. Apex 2014 garnered 629 entrants and was the 2nd largest tournament for ''Melee'' at the time after EVO 2013. Though the tournament initially focused on ''Brawl'', the feature game has since switched to ''Melee'' due to its popularity.
