The Bicycle Thief (band)
The Bicycle Thief is an American alternative rock band fronted by Bob Forrest. After a break from the music industry after the demise of his previous band, Thelonious Monster, Forrest started jamming with Josh Klinghoffer (a friend of Forrest's girlfriend's brother) and in 1997 they played a covers gig and Forrest started recording demos on a four-track. After Goldenvoice's Paul Tollett offered him a deal he and Klinghoffer recorded The Bicycle Thief's debut, joined on the album by Kevin Fitzgerald (Geraldine Fibbers). This was Klinghoffer's first recording experience and he contributed guitars, keyboards, and on some tracks the drums. Their only studio album is ''You Come and Go Like a Pop Song'', released in 1999, and re-released with modified track listing and artwork in 2001. ''You Come and Go Like a Pop Song'' is an album by The Bicycle Thief, released in 1999 and re-released with a different track listing in 2001. Songs on the album were predominantly written by frontman Bob Forrest (singer for LA band Thelonious Monster), though Josh Klinghoffer (later to play in Red Hot Chili Peppers and Dot Hacker) played a major role, contributing drums, guitars, keyboards, and songwriting. Forrest is briefly mentioned in Anthony Kiedis's autobiography "Scar Tissue". Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante appears on "Cereal Song", playing a lead guitar solo. Additional musicians, songwriters, and producers for the album include Josh Blum, Kevin Fitzgerald, and Marc Hunter. The Geraldine Fibbers were an alt-country band founded in 1994 by Carla Bozulich. Robert O'Neil "Bob" Forrest (born February 15, 1961) is an American musician who is best known for his work with the Los Angeles bands Thelonious Monster and The Bicycle Thief. Forrest, a recovering drug addict, has worked for years as a recovery advocate and is cofounder oOro House Recovery Center He currently hosts podcasts called "Rehab Bob" and "The Don't Die podcast". Forrest is the former Chemical Dependency Program Director at Las Encinas Hospital. In 2010, he and co-founder Shelly Sprague launched Hollywood Recovery Services. Ataxia (band)
Ataxia was a short-lived American experimental rock supergroup formed in 2004 by guitarist John Frusciante (Red Hot Chili Peppers), bassist Joe Lally (Fugazi) and drummer Josh Klinghoffer (Dot Hacker, The Bicycle Thief), who later succeeded Frusciante as the lead guitarist of the Red Hot Chili Peppers until 2019, at which point Frusciante rejoined the band. Ataxia wrote and recorded songs for two weeks, and the material was separated into two albums: ''Automatic Writing'' (2004) and ''AW II'' (2007). The songs all feature a ground-bass line with the guitar overlaying different motifs and long developments.
