Lillian Walker
Lillian Walker (April 21, 1887 – October 10, 1975), born Lillian Wolke, was an American film actress of the silent era. She appeared in more than 170 films, most of them shorts, between 1909 and 1934. Biography ''Photoplay'' magazine's trade publication ''Stars of the Photoplay 1916'' stated: "Lillian Walker is a feminine confection composed of dimples, golden hair and curves. She was born in Brooklyn and as an artist's model by her beauty attracted attention and she got her opportunity on the stage. All her picture appearances have been Vitagraph productions, and she is best known for her work in ''Cinderella's Slipper'' 915and the "Miss Tomboy" series 914 In 1918, she set up her own production company, Lillian Walker Pictures Corporation, to make films in which she starred. At least one transpired, ''The Embarrassment of Riches'' (1918), released via the W. W. Hodkinson Corporation. Walker died in Trinidad in 1975. A lost film is a feature or short film that no longer exists in any studio archive, private collection, public archive or the U.S. Library of Congress. Conditions During most of the 20th century, U.S. copyright law required at least one copy of every American film to be deposited at the Library of Congress at the time of copyright registration, but the Librarian of Congress was not required to retain those copies: "Under the provisions of the act of March 4, 1909, authority is granted for the return to the claimant of copyright of such copyright deposits as are not required by the Library." Irving Cummings
Irving Caminsky (October 9, 1888 – April 18, 1959) was an American movie actor and director. Career Born in New York City, Cummings started his acting career at age 16 in ''Diplomacy''. His Broadway, performances included ''In the Long Run'' (1909) and ''Object -- Matrimony'' (1916). Acting in the Proctor Stock Company, Cummings appeared with Lillian Russell and other actresses. He entered into movies in 1909, acting with the P. A. Powers company in Mount Vernon, New York, and quickly became a popular leading man. Few of the films he made as an actor are easily available, except for Buster Keaton's first feature film, ''The Saphead'' (1920), in which Cummings plays a crooked stockbroker and Fred Niblo's film Sex (1920), one of the first films to depict a new phenomenon in 1920s America, the Flapper. Barbara Tennant (19 May 1892 – 18 March 1982) was an English actress. She appeared in over a hundred silent films between 1912 and 1928. Early life Barbara Tennant was born in London, and began performing there. She moved to North America as a young actress and dancer with the Ben Greet company, and lived in Montreal while touring in various theatrical productions. Film career Tennant appeared in over a hundred silent films, many of them short productions, between 1912 and 1928. Ben Alexander (actor)
Nicholas Benton "Ben" Alexander III (June 27, 1911 – July 5, 1969) was an American motion picture actor, who started out as a child actor in 1916. He is best remembered for his role as Officer Frank Smith in the ''Dragnet'' franchise. Life and career Ben Alexander was born in Goldfield, Nevada, and raised in California. Alexander made his screen debut at age of five in ''Every Pearl a Tear''. He went on to portray Lillian Gish's young brother in D. W. Griffith's ''Hearts of the World''. After a number of silent films, he retired from screen work, but came back for the World War I classic, ''All Quiet on the Western Front'' (1930), in which Alexander received good notices as an adult actor as "Kemmerick", the tragic amputation victim. He played lead and second lead roles in many low-budget films throughout the 1930s.
