The Better Angels Society
The Better Angels Society is a 501(c)3 organization that was founded in 2013 by supporters of Ken Burns to raise funds from individuals of wealth and private family foundations. Amy Margerum Berg has served as the organization's president since 2016. The organization's "goal is to educate, engage and provoke thoughtful discussion among people of every political persuasion and ideology. We work to ensure historically significant films are completed, broadcast, promoted, and shared in ways that reach and inform as many people as possible through robust educational and civic outreach. The Society is currently raising funds for Ken Burns’s films in production and planned over the next ten years." ''The Address'' is a 2014 documentary film for television written, co-produced and directed by Ken Burns. The documentary was released on April 15, 2014. Synopsis ''The Address'' follows a group of students from The Greenwood School, a boarding school in Putney, Vermont for boys in Grades 6-12 with special needs, such as dyslexia and ADHD as they prepare to recite the Gettysburg Address. The documentary follows the students in their day-to-day lives at the boarding school, as they each prepare for the recital. The boys receive a special coin upon successfully reciting the speech. Lynn Novick
Lynn Novick is an American director and producer of documentary films, widely known for her work with Ken Burns. Early life Novick was born in 1962, raised in New York City, and graduated from Horace Mann School in 1979. She graduated magna cum laude from Yale University with honors in American Studies. Career Novick was a research assistant at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of American History before beginning her film career as a production assistant at WNET, a public television station in Manhattan. She then worked on Bill Moyers' projects '' Joseph Campbell and the Power of Myth'' and '' A World of Ideas with Bill Moyers'' before moving to Florentine Films in 1989 to work on Burns's 1990 series, '' The Civil War'', as associate producer for post production.
