The Best Of The Pink Floyd / Masters Of Rock
''The Best of the Pink Floyd'', also issued as ''Masters of Rock'', is a compilation album of early Pink Floyd music, concentrating on singles and album tracks from 1967 to 1968. Later release Later editions titled ''Masters of Rock'' were released in 1974 in France, Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands, to capitalise on the success of ''The Dark Side of the Moon''. It is one of the ''Masters of Rock'' series of budget EMI compilations with identical titles, each volume for a different artist. Two different sleeve designs were used: one (by Herman Baas) based on the picture from the centre of the album sleeve for ''Meddle'', with Syd Barrett's face superimposed over the original photo of David Gilmour, who had not yet joined the band during most of the period covered by the album; and a later edition with the title filling the front cover. Rare Earth (band)
Rare Earth was an American rock band from Detroit, Michigan. According to ''Louder'', "Rare Earth’s music straddles genres and defies categorisation, slipping seamlessly between the two seemingly disparate worlds of classic rock and R&B." The band was signed to Motown's Rare Earth record label. Although not the first white band signed to Motown, Rare Earth was the first big hit-making act signed by Motown that consisted only of white members. (None of the previously signed all-white acts, the Rustix, the Dalton Boys or the Underdogs, had any hits.) History 1960s The group formed in 1960 as the Sunliners and changed its name to Rare Earth in 1968. The band felt the name "Rare Earth" was more in keeping with the names other bands were adopting, such as Iron Butterfly, more "with it." Masters Of Rock (festival)
Masters of Rock is a large heavy metal music festival in the Czech Republic. The main styles represented on this festival are power, speed and heavy metal, though the production tries to make the fest more open for other rock and metal styles, such as progressive rock/metal, hardcore, death metal or even ska. It takes place in Vizovice, Czech Republic and in the past has featured bands such as Tarja Turunen, Manowar, Sweet, Twisted Sister, HammerFall, Stratovarius, Helloween, Gamma Ray, Nightwish, Rhapsody of Fire, Kreator, Edguy, Rage, Apocalyptica, Within Temptation, Children of Bodom, Avantasia, Accept, Dream Theater, Sebastian Bach, Behemoth, Amon Amarth, Sabaton and many more. The 2005 attendance was over 20,000, the 2006 one over 25,000 and finally the 2007 was over 30,000. The festival is held every summer and the Winter morphosis takes place in November in the town of Zlín.
