''The Best of Type O Negative'' is an album from Roadrunner Records, featuring a collection of Type O Negative's music with the label. The album was released without Type O Negative's involvement (they were signed to SPV Records by the time of this compilation's release). Songs from the albums '' The Origin of the Feces'' and then-new material from ''Least Worst Of'' are not represented on the album. Despite being an unsanctioned release, the cover of Deep Purple's " Highway Star" does not appear on any other Type O Negative release and is exclusive to the compilation - with the exception of its previous inclusion on the compilation '' NASCAR: Crank It Up''. The album was released on September 12, 2006, simultaneously with similarly unsanctioned best-of collections of the bands Sepultura, Fear Factory, and Ill Niño. Type O Negative
Type O Negative were an American gothic metal band formed in Brooklyn, New York City in 1989 by Peter Steele (bass, lead vocals), Kenny Hickey (guitar, co-lead vocals), Josh Silver (keyboards, backing vocals), and Sal Abruscato (drums, percussion), who was later replaced by Johnny Kelly. Their lyrical emphasis on themes of romance, depression, and death resulted in the nickname "the Drab Four" (in homage to the Beatles' "Fab Four" moniker). The band went platinum with 1993's ''Bloody Kisses'', and gold with 1996's ''October Rust'', and gained a fanbase through seven studio albums, two best-of compilations, and concert DVDs. Steele died on April 14, 2010, at the age of 48; some sources report the cause of death as heart failure brought on by an aortic aneurysm, while others list sepsis caused by diverticulitis. Ill Niño
Ill Niño (stylized as ill niño) is an American metal band formed in Union City, New Jersey, in 1998 by drummer and percussionist Dave Chavarri. They have released seven studio albums, two EPs and one compilation album, totaling in over 1.3 million worldwide album sales. History Ill Niño was formed as El Niño by former Pro-Pain drummer David "Dave" Chavarri in May 1998. He enlisted Merauder vocalist Jorge Rosado, guitarist Daniel Gomez and bassist Christian Machado and took on the position of drummer and percussionist himself. With this line-up, the band released a self-titled EP. Gomez left the band soon after the EP's release, with a variety of guitarists filling in his spot. "Cinnamon Girl" is a song by Neil Young. It debuted on the 1969 album ''Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere'', which was also Young's first album with backing band Crazy Horse. Songwriting Music Like two other songs from ''Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere'', "Cowgirl in the Sand" and " Down by the River", Young wrote "Cinnamon Girl" while he was suffering from the flu with a high fever at his home in Topanga, California. October Rust
''October Rust'' is the fourth studio album by Type O Negative. It was released in 1996. This is the first album with Johnny Kelly credited as the band's drummer, although programmed drums are used on the album. ''October Rust'' has more ballads and less of the doom metal sound of previous or subsequent albums. It also features a very heavy cover of Neil Young's "Cinnamon Girl". It is the first of the band's albums with a "joke intro"; in this case, "Bad Ground", which is 38 seconds of low-level buzzing, meant to sound as if one or more audio leads is incorrectly plugged into the input jacks of an amplifier. Tracks 2 and 15 are humorous untitled spoken word intros and outros to the album, respectively, with the band downplaying the recording of the album.
