Chic (band)
Chic ( ), currently called Nile Rodgers & Chic, is an American band that was formed in 1972 by guitarist Nile Rodgers and bassist Bernard Edwards. It recorded many commercially successful disco songs, including "Dance, Dance, Dance (Yowsah, Yowsah, Yowsah)" (1977), " Everybody Dance" (1977), "Le Freak" (1978), " I Want Your Love" (1978), " Good Times" (1979), and "My Forbidden Lover" (1979). The group regarded themselves as a rock band for the disco movement "that made good on hippie peace, love and freedom". In 2017, Chic was nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for the eleventh time. History 1970–1978: Origins and early singers Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards met in 1970 as session musicians working in the New York City area. They formed a rock band initially named The Boys, but soon changed it to The Big Apple Band, and played numerous gigs around New York City. Despite interest in their demos, they never garnered a record contract. Both ...

''Take It Off'' was one of three albums written and produced by Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers in 1981, the other two being Blondie lead singer Debbie Harry's debut solo album ''Koo Koo'' and Johnny Mathis' ''I Love My Lady''. Albums Produced By Bernard Edwards
An album is a collection of audio recordings issued on compact disc (CD), vinyl, audio tape, or another medium such as digital distribution. Albums of recorded sound were developed in the early 20th century as individual 78 rpm records collected in a bound book resembling a photograph album; this format evolved after 1948 into single vinyl long-playing (LP) records played at  rpm. The album was the dominant form of recorded music expression and consumption from the mid-1960s to the early 21st century, a period known as the album era. Vinyl LPs are still issued, though album sales in the 21st-century have mostly focused on CD and MP3 formats. The 8-track tape was the first tape format widely used alongside vinyl from 1965 until being phased out by 1983 and was gradually supplanted by the cassette tape during the 1970s and early 1980s; the popularity of the cassette reached its peak during the late 1980s, sharply declined during the 1990s and had largely disappeared duri ...

Chic (band) Compilation Albums
Chic (; ), meaning "stylish" or "smart", is an element of fashion. It was originally a French word. Etymology ''Chic'' is a French word, established in English since at least the 1870s. Early references in English dictionaries classified it as slang and New Zealand-born lexicographer Eric Partridge noted, with reference to its colloquial meaning, that it was "not so used in Fr nch" Gustave Flaubert notes in ''Madame Bovary'' (published in 1856) that "chicard" (one who is chic) is then Parisian very current slang for "classy" noting, perhaps derisively, perhaps not, that it was bourgeois. There is a similar word in German, '' schick'', with a meaning similar to ''chic'', which may be the origin of the word in French; another theory links ''chic'' to the word ''chicane''. Although the French pronunciation (/ˈʃiːk/ or "sheek") is now virtually standard and was that given by Fowler, ''chic'' was often rendered in the anglicised form of "chick". In a fictional vignette for '' ...

Record Producer
A record producer is a recording project's creative and technical leader, commanding studio time and coaching artists, and in popular genres typically creates the song's very sound and structure.Virgil Moorefield"Introduction" ''The Producer as Composer: Shaping the Sounds of Popular Music'' (Cambridge, MA & London, UK: MIT Press, 2005).Richard James Burgess, ''The History of Music Production'' (New York: Oxford University Press, 2014)pp 12–13Allan Watson, ''Cultural Production in and Beyond the Recording Studio'' (New York: Routledge, 2015)pp 25–27 The record producer, or simply the producer, is likened to film director and art director. The executive producer, on the other hand, enables the recording project through entrepreneurship, and an audio engineer operates the technology. Varying by project, the producer may or may not choose all of the artists. If employing only synthesized or sampled instrumentation, the producer may be the sole artist. Conversely, some artists ...

C'est Chic
''C'est Chic'' is the second studio album by American R&B band Chic, released on Atlantic Records in 1978. Release ''C'est Chic'' includes the band's signature hit "Le Freak", which topped the US Hot 100 chart, US R&B, ''and'' US Club Play in October 1978, selling six million copies in the US. The album also contains the hit single " I Want Your Love" (number 5 R&B, number 7 Pop, number 4 UK). ''C'est Chic'' was the band's most commercially successful album, reaching number 4 on ''Billboard'''s album chart and topping the US R&B chart for eleven weeks. Believer (Chic Album)
''Believer'' is the seventh studio album by American band Chic, their last for the Atlantic Records label, and the last featuring the classic line-up of Nile Rodgers, Bernard Edwards, Alfa Anderson, Luci Martin, and Tony Thompson. The album includes the singles "Give Me the Lovin'" (#57 US R&B), "You Are Beautiful" (issued only in France, the Netherlands, and Scandinavia), and "Party Everybody" (issued only in Canada, Germany, and the Netherlands). The album failed to make much of an impact and shortly after its release the group disbanded. 1983 had seen Nile Rodgers releasing his first solo album, '' Adventures in the Land of the Good Groove'' - also largely overlooked, at least on a strictly commercial level. The following production assignment for David Bowie's '' Let's Dance'' (1983) album was to change the future for both Rodgers and his colleague Bernard Edwards completely. ''Believer'' was transferred to compact disc and re-released by Atlantic Records/Warner Music in 1991 ...

''Tongue in Chic'' was transferred to compact disc and re-released by Atlantic Records/Warner Music in 1991. The album was digitally remastered and re-issued by Wounded Bird Records in 2003. Critical reception The '' Spin Alternative Record Guide'' wrote that the album "offers some extended nasty grooves that would soon be watered down for Bowie's ''Let's Dance'', but the songwriting falters halfway." Real People (song)
"Real People" is from Chic's fourth album ''Real People''. It was the second single from this album and like its predecessor, featured a solo lead vocal by Luci Martin. Background Exploring new directions in the post-Disco era, Chic continued incorporating harder rock elements into their sound as evident by Nile Rodgers' blaring guitar solos which kick-off and end the song. Audiences were caught off guard by the new Chic sound. Prompting some radio programmers to flip the single and play the more upbeat/dancable B-side "Chip Off The Old Block" instead of the A-side. This, combined with other factors, resulted in the single not making much impact on the charts. Reception ''Record World ''Record World'' magazine was one of the three main music industry trade magazines in the United States, along with '' Billboard'' and '' Cashbox''.
