Birdhouse Skateboards (originally Birdhouse Projects) is a skateboard company formed by ex-Powell Peralta professional skateboarders Tony Hawk and Per Welinder in 1992. Birdhouse makes decks and wheels, as well as clothing and accessories. History After the skateboard boom of the late 1980s had died, former Powell Peralta professional and freestyle skateboarder Per Welinder wanted to stay involved with skateboarding by starting a company. Welinder had originally asked Powell Peralta pro skateboarder Lance Mountain to be his equal partner in the venture. Mountain declined as he only wanted to start a skateboard company if he had 100% ownership. Mountain later founded The Firm Skateboards (now defunct). Welinder later asked another Powell Peralta pro skateboarder Tony Hawk to be 50-50 partners in this new skateboard company. Lizzie Armanto
Elizabeth Marika Armanto (born January 26, 1993) is an American-Finnish professional skateboarder. Early life and career Armanto was born to a Finnish father and an American mother. She holds dual citizenship in the United States and Finland. She is of Filipino descent through her maternal grandfather. Armanto grew up in Santa Monica, California. She started skating in 2007 with her younger brother and developed a love for skating bowls and vert. Armanto has won over 30 skateboarding awards. In 2010, 2011 and 2012, she placed first overall in the World Cup of Skateboarding points race. Bucky Lasek
Charles Michael "Bucky" Lasek ( ; born December 3, 1972) is an American professional skateboarder and rallycross driver. Career Professional skateboarding Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Lasek started skateboarding at the age of 12, shortly after his bike was stolen. After entering amateur contests, he was quickly noticed by Powell Peralta talent scouts in 1987. Powell sponsored Lasek, and he made his video debut in the fourth Bones Brigade video, ''Public Domain'' (1988). Lasek attained professional status with Powell in 1990, but by this time, skateboarding, and vert skateboarding (Lasek's discipline) in particular, began to lose popularity and his career waned. Hudson Riley Hawk (born December 6, 1992) is an American professional skateboarder and musician. He is the son of Tony Hawk. Unlike his father, who is known for his vert style, Riley is better known as a street skater. He turned pro on his 21st birthday in December 2013 and became ''Skateboarder Magazines 2013 Amateur of the Year on the same day. He is sponsored by Baker and Lakai. Brian Sumner is a British skateboarder, Christian pastor and traveling evangelist, originally from Liverpool, England. Rick McCrank (born January 23, 1976) is a Canadian professional skateboarder, television host, skate shop owner, and skate company co-owner. Andrew Reynolds (born June 6, 1978) is an American professional skateboarder known for co-founding Baker Skateboards in 2000 with artist Jay Strickland. He is now Baker Skateboard's sole owner. Reynolds established Bakerboys Distribution with Erik Ellington and Jim Greco in 2007.
