The Beatles EP Collection
''The Beatles EP Collection'' is a box set of vinyl records by the English rock band the Beatles. It was released by EMI's Parlophone record label in the United Kingdom on 7 December 1981. The box set consists of thirteen of the band's extended play (EP) releases from 1963 to 1967, including the double EP ''Magical Mystery Tour'', and a new disc, titled ''The Beatles'', which compiled previously unavailable stereo mixes of four songs. Released with the Parlophone catalogue number BEP 14, the box set was the third in a series of format-based sets in the UK, after ''The Singles Collection 1962–1970'' (1976) and ''The Beatles Collection'' (1978). As with the 1978 collection, the set is packaged in a dark blue box, with gold lettering used for the compilation title and the four band members' signatures. Baby, You're A Rich Man
"Baby, You're a Rich Man" is a song by the English rock band the Beatles that was released as the B-side of their "All You Need Is Love" single in July 1967. It originated from an unfinished song by John Lennon, titled "One of the Beautiful People", to which Paul McCartney added a chorus. It is one of the best-known pop songs to make use of a clavioline, a monophonic keyboard instrument that was a forerunner to the synthesizer. Lennon played the clavioline on its oboe setting, creating a sound that suggests an Indian shehnai. The song was recorded and mixed at Olympic Sound Studios in London, making it the first of the Beatles' EMI recordings to be entirely created outside EMI Studios. ''Beatles for Sale'' is an EP released 6 April 1965 by the Beatles. It is the group's eighth official EP and contains four tracks from the parent LP of the same name. The EP is only available in mono. Its catalogue number is Parlophone GEP 8931. It was also released in Australia and India. ''Beatles for Sale entered the EP chart on 10 April and reached the top spot on 24 April. It remained there for five weeks, and spent another week at number one from 12 June. ''Long Tall Sally'' is the fifth UK EP release by British rock band the Beatles and the band's first UK EP to include songs not previously released on an album or single in the United Kingdom. (Side 1 had been released in America that April, on ''The Beatles' Second Album'', while Side 2 would be released in July on the North American album '' Something New''.) It was released by Parlophone in mono, with the catalogue number GEP 8913, and released in the United Kingdom on 19 June 1964. It was also released in Spain and France.
