The Barn (recording Studio)
The Barn is a recording studio, rehearsal space, and artists studio located on the property of Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio in the Green Mountains near Burlington, Vermont. Reconstructed between 1996 and 1998 from an existing structure, the Alan Irish Barn, The Barn has been used by Phish to record several albums and has hosted all of Anastasio's projects since 1998. In addition, several other artists have recorded or performed at The Barn, including Béla Fleck, John Patitucci, DJ Logic, Toots & the Maytals, Tony Levin, Umphrey's McGee, The Slip, John Medeski, Swampadelica, Jerry Douglas, Patti LaBelle, Leo Kottke, Jim Carrey, Addison Groove Project, and Touchpants. The Slip (band)
The Slip is an avant-rock trio from Boston, Massachusetts. The band consists of Providence, Rhode Island brothers Brad Barr (guitar, piano, vocals) and Andrew Barr (drums), and Marc Friedman (bass guitar). The three also play with singer-songwriter Nathan Moore (of ThaMuseMeant) and keyboardist Marco Benevento in Surprise Me Mr. Davis. Brad and Andrew Barr additionally perform with Montreal-based ensemble The Barr Brothers. History The band was formed at Tabor Academy in Marion, Massachusetts, in 1989 as a student rock band that toured New England high school campuses. Sigma Oasis
''Sigma Oasis'' is the fifteenth studio album by the American rock band Phish, released on the band's JEMP Records label on April 2, 2020. The album was recorded at their studio The Barn and was produced by the band and Vance Powell. Production ''Sigma Oasis'' was recorded over the course of one week in November 2019 at The Barn, the band's Vermont recording studio. The album was mixed at Sputnik Sound in Nashville. The album's cover is a photograph of the band members standing on the porch of The Barn, and was taken by photographer Rene Huemer. Most of the album was recorded and tracked live at The Barn, although keyboardist Page McConnell later recorded synthesizer overdubs and guitarist Trey Anastasio recorded backing vocal and percussion overdubs after the sessions but before the final mix process. ''Joy'' is the twelfth studio album by the American rock band Phish, released on September 8, 2009, on the band's own label, JEMP Records. ''Joy'' was Phish's first studio album since '' Undermind'' in 2004, and their first since they reunited in March 2009. Webster Hall is a nightclub and concert venue located at 125 East 11th Street, between Third and Fourth Avenues, near Astor Place, in the East Village of Manhattan, New York City. It is one of New York City's most historically significant theater and event halls, having hosted social events of all types since the club's construction in 1886 as a "hall for hire". Leo Kottke
Leo Kottke (born September 11, 1945) is an acoustic guitarist. He is known for a fingerpicking style that draws on blues, jazz, and folk music, and for syncopated, polyphonic melodies. He overcame a series of personal obstacles, including partial loss of hearing and a nearly career-ending bout with tendon damage in his right hand, to emerge as a widely recognized master of his instrument. He resides in the Minneapolis area with his family. Focusing primarily on instrumental composition and playing, Kottke also sings sporadically, in an unconventional yet expressive baritone described by himself as sounding like "geese farts on a muggy day". As a youth living in Muskogee, Oklahoma, he was influenced by folk and delta blues music, notably that of Mississippi John Hurt. Gerald Calvin "Jerry" Douglas (born May 28, 1956) is an American Dobro and lap steel guitar player and record producer. Career In addition to his fourteen solo recordings, Douglas has played on more than 1,600 albums.
