''The Badger'' ( fa, گورکن, romanized: ''Goorkan)'' is a 2020 Iranian thriller drama film directed by Kazem Mollaie about of a 40-year-old woman called Soodeh Sharifzadegan who faces a strange incident, right before her second marriage. It premiered at the 2020 Shanghai International Film Festival, and it was also screened at the Austin Film Festival in its North American premiere, where it was nominated for the Audience Award and won the Best Narrative Jury Award. Synopsis Right before Soodeh Sharifzadegan's second marriage, her 11-year-old son, “Matiar” is kidnapped. After considerable effort, Soodeh is forced to ask for the ransom money from her ex-husband, “Peyman”. After Matiar's release, Soodeh, being curious, comes to the sudden realization that it was all her son's plan to provide the grounds for his father's return. Kazem Mollaie
Kazem Mollaie ( fa, کاظم ملایی; born in 1981) is an Iranian film director, screenwriter and editor. Biography Kazem Mollaie started filmmaking with short films in 1999. He holds a B.A. in Cinema Directing from Soore University in 2005. He has been a member of several organizations, such as the Iranian Young Cinema Society (IYCS), the Iranian Alliance of Motion Picture Guilds (House of Cinema), and a member of the Board of Directors of the Iranian Short Film Association (ISFA) and Directors Guild of Iran. He is known for his debut feature film " Kupal" (2017) and short films such as "Delete" (2011) and "Minus" (2009). His second feature film was " The Badger" (2020), which was nominated as the Best Film at the 23rd Shanghai International Film Festival 2020 (Asian New Talent Award) at its world premiere. Salerno Film Festival or The Film Festival of Salerno (in the Italian language, Festival del cinema di Salerno) has operated since 1946 in the Italian city of Salerno. History "CINE CLUB SALERNO", a non-profit association of cinematographic culture, was born in 1945 from a group of “friends for the skin,” which had an ambitious program: that of promoting culture through cinema.
