The Azadi
''Daily Azadi'' ( bn, ডেইলি আজাদী) is a Bangladeshi newspaper published in Bangladesh. History ''The Azadi'' was first published on 5 September 1960. The paper was pro-democracy and supported various autonomy movements in East Pakistan. It was blacklisted by the Pakistani Government for a year and banned from receiving government advertisement. It stopped publishing for three months during the Bangladesh Liberation War. Abdul Khaleq was the founding editor and publisher of Azadi. At first the price of the magazine was two annas (12 paise). After Khaleq's death, his son-in-law Md. Mohammad Khaled took over as editor in 1962. MA Malek has been in charge of the newspaper since 2003 after his death. Rashed Rouf
Rashed Rouf (born January 1, 1964) is a Bangladeshi novelist, editor and journalist. He was awarded the Bangla Academy Literary Award in 2017. As of 2019, Rouf is an associate editor of '' Dainik Azadi'', a Bengali-language daily newspaper. Early life Rashed Rouf was born at Patiya in Chittagong in 1964. His father was Noor Syed. His mother is Mabeya Begum. He spent his childhood in his native village, Chonhora in Patiya. Rouf is the eldest of eleven children with six brothers and four sisters. Education Rashed Rouf's education started at Chonhora Primary School in Patiya. Then he studied at Chonhora Shoroshy Bala High School, Patiya Government College and then at Chittagong University. MA Malek ( bn, এম এ মালেক) is a Bangladeshi journalist who is currently the editor of the first daily Azadi of independent Bangladesh. The Government of Bangladesh awarded him the Ekushey Padak in Journalism in 2022 for his significant contribution in journalism.
