''The Ascent'' is the debut studio album by American post-hardcore band Secrets released on January 17, 2012, through Velocity and Rise Records. The album debuted at number 3 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart, as well as the ''Billboard'' 200 at number 185. It is the only release to include original vocalist Xander Bourgeois before his departure in 2013. Background Shortly after being signed to Velocity/Rise the band began working with ex-A Day to Remember lead guitarist Tom Denney for their debut album. In an interview with Rock Edition singer Richard Rogers noted that they had originally intended to release a 5 to 6 song EP. The record label suggested that they instead release a full-length album, and brought in Denney to assist. In order to afford the recording of this album, Secrets camped in a tent in a car park for 1 whole month. Release and promotion The first single was "The Heartless Part", released November 22, 2011. Secrets (stylized as SECRETS) is an American metalcore/post-hardcore band formed in San Diego, California in 2010. After being signed to Rise Records in 2011, Secrets released their debut full-length album '' The Ascent'' in January 2012. The record debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart and became the first Velocity Records release to appear on the Billboard Top 200, debuting at No. 185. After going through line-up changes in 2013, the band released their second album '' Fragile Figures'' in July. The album was a success, selling over 10,000 copies in the first month and charting at No. 59 on the ''Billboard'' 200 chart. Jamie's Elsewhere are an American post-hardcore band formed in Sacramento, California, United States, in 2005. They were signed to Victory Records before deciding not to renew their contract with the label, and have released three full-length albums; ''Guidebook for Sinners Turned Saints'' in 2008, ''They Said a Storm Was Coming'' in 2010 and '' Rebel-Revive'' in 2014. History Formation and first releases (2005–2008) The band was formed early in 2005 when brothers Matthew and Anthony Scarpelli (guitar and drums, respectively) began writing songs together. In order to audition for the guitar part, Anthony Carioscia flew over 2,000 miles. He was welcomed into the band, and soon after, they picked up locals Mike Spearman on keyboards and Nick Rodriguez on bass. Top Heatseekers are "Breaking and Entering" music charts issued weekly by ''Billboard'' magazine. The Heatseekers Albums and the Heatseekers Songs charts were introduced by ''Billboard'' in 1991 with the purpose of highlighting the sales by new and developing musical recording artists. Albums and songs appearing on Top Heatseekers may also concurrently appear on the ''Billboard'' 200 or ''Billboard'' Hot 100. Albums chart The Heatseekers Albums chart contains 25 positions that are ranked by Nielsen SoundScan sales data, and charts album titles from "new or developing acts" as determined by the acts' historical chart performance.
